This product is currently on pre-order and will be dispatched in line with the release date. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Robbie Williams’ multi-million selling solo debut album ‘Life Thru A Lens’ (originally released in September 1997 in the UK) UMC / Island Records are releasing a new expanded Deluxe Edition on 4CD set on 2nd December 2022.

It brings together the original chart topping album with bonus tracks and B-Sides from the five singles lifted from it, along with tracks associated with Robbie’s (non-album) debut single ‘Freedom’ (UK No. 2, August 1996). The third disc contains previously unreleased demo recordings, alongside rehearsal recordings and rare remixes.

Disc 4 contains a first release on audio format for the complete concert recorded at the Forum in north London on 3 June 1998, released that November as ‘Live In Your Living Room’ on VHS tape and VCD but never reissued.

Original reviews of the album described it as “smart, sharp and prickling with personality” (NME), “actually rather fantastic”, (Time Out) and “raucous stompers, trembling epics and full-throated roaring all the way” (Smash Hits).

I agree Lundi but that is the case with these special editions . I am very tempted by the singles edition . The 4 CD collection also looks good with demos etc .

Then they needn't to release LP last year :)

---

Funny that The Christmas Present had 28 tracks, XXV has 29 tracks and this reissue has 64.

Since now I'm waiting for 100 tracks on his next album )))

So, Disc 3 Is the most interesting, of course.

At least there are two new songs/names:

Hey Little Girl (Axis Studios Demo, October / November 1996)

Red Lights (Tower Studios Demo, January 1997)

More interesting that this song from 1996 has been appeared before Guy Chambers while we don't know a lot of since that time.

Do Now, Old Before I Die and that's It.

Also all these demos would be pleasure to hear because it's time before his star life.

I have some more notes and thoughts about this release but Will post them during weekend.

For fans outside of the UK the albums etc are available to purchase of Amazon Germany & Amazon France so worth checking out

Great, it would be great to hear your thoughts before deciding which is the best option to buy .

Yes, these are the only two I don't know.

Thanks for the information. With the taxes it might be an unpleasant surprise to buy in the UK.

Great, it would be great to hear your thoughts before deciding which is the best option to buy .

So, sharing some of my thoughts about the releases.

LIFE THRU A LENS (25TH ANNIVERSARY CLEAR 12" VINYL)

Not everybody need to have LP but it's a trend for musuc fans nowadays in UK and it's good to see LTAL is on vinyl right now.

But...it has already been on vinyl since autumn' 2021 (I also bought my copy last year).

So, I suppose his mgmt just want to sell a few LPs more while he is in Tour.

LIFE THRU A LENS (25TH ANNIVERSARY 7" BOXSET) A TOTAL OF 7 X 7 INCH SINGLES

I think it's only for hardcore fans.

If I understand its description right, it's only 7 seperate songs on LPs.

I think it's beautiful edition but in fact even if you have got a vinyl player you will listen to them just for 1 time.

I have got Greatest Hits (2004) edition with 19 seperate CDs. Each CD has 1 song.

I never heard it on CD player =)))

LIFE THRU A LENS (25TH ANNIVERSARY 4 CD BOXSET)

Well,

CD1 is just original CD, that's it.

CD2 is a collection of all B-Sides of this era including Freedom & Angels (Spanish Version).

You know that Robbie's b-sides of that period were great and we always wanted to get its releases as a whole CD, etc.

In fact he tried to mix them on Greatest Hits 2010 but there were only some of them and from different eras.

Of course, if you want, you can create a playlist of these songs on Spotify/Apple but having the whole CD of 20 songs is what I like for sure - it's much easier to do.

I have all or 90% of CD singles from LTAL era but I don't want to listen it together with singles songs when I just want to listen the b-sides only. And I like the fact Freedom is added to this era. When even Rob is trying to forget about it.

CD3

The best news for fans because you will get something really new.

Two new songs from the era.

Many demos and lives, including b-sides what I've never heard.

I'm waiting for them very much.

CD4

You know that Live at The Forum had been released on VHS only while it was a very good concert.

It's good to hear it in quality in the end. It been never released as audio before.

And one more point: I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing (Live at The Forum, London 3 June 1998) wasn't included on VHS release.

---

So, in overall, regaring this option...

It could be cheaper: £45 or £50 would be more clever price than £65.99.

Or it could be cost even £65.99 if they would remastered Live at The Forum concert as a video.

So, it's a very good one for collection but maybe a 10-20% more expensive than it should be.

Anyway, if my credit could work internationally now I choose and buy this edition.

p.s. Of course, I'm talking about that price from supermarkets shelves - I don't want to pay for logistics and VAT.

p.p.s. I heard that Spice Girls release an anniversary album next month. There is no anything new on it while it's SG which haven't release anything since ages.

Yes, I have been thinking about it but it's more like a collectors item really . I like the idea of it but not sure if it's practical to buy it

Thanks for your thoughts on this Alex, very helpful . I also think this is definitely the best option . Looking forward to hearing the unreleased material .

Much better!

4CD edition on Amazon costs 55 pounds.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Life-Thru-Lens-25t...spons&psc=1

Buying via Amazon definitely best option for floks outside the UK. I also find Amazon are more reliable that whoever RW.com are using to ship their products . I did not get what I actually ordered last time from rw.com. I emailed them weeks ago & have not had a response yet . Does my head in so next time I will try Amazon .

Spoiler =)

Robbie Williams Classic Debut Gets A Deluxe Reissue :

kendalllaceyOctober 16, 2022Best Of The Best, music, music icons, Pop music

I have a running joke with my friend Paul about the amount of boxsets I want to buy, he promised me he would buy me the Use Your Illusion deluxe set “When I win the lottery”, but made the mistake of not saying “When I win big”, so I’m expecting that set when he wins a tenner. Thanks Paul.

Aaand then there was another. This time it does not do the 300 quid routine and you can actually afford to buy it. looks at bank account Okay, not right now, but you know what I mean. Robbie Williams classic 1997 album Life Thru A Lens is the record in question, a brilliant brilliant pop record full of defiance from a star who wanted to be in Oasis rather than the boyband sphere. Still a glorious record, beaten only by Escapology in my rankings. I was onboard day one, buying the excellent Freedom 90 cover and the t-shirt that went along with it, so it is cool to see this single only release get resurrected as well as all the great b-sides from the period. We also get unreleased demos, rehearsal material and remixes.

Want more? How about a concert from 1998, recorded at the iconic Kentish Town Forum. This was available on VHS (hey, fellow kids!) but never reissued and never given an audio release.

The CD boxset is sixty six pound, available to pre-order on the official site robbiewilliams.com, it will be released on December 2nd, what would be my dads’s birthday, that’s obviously a sign for me to buy it, right.

Oh!!

This demo makes sence and important to understand how Robbie could sound at the first album...

In fact it's the way of sounding before Guy.

More slowly than traditional version.

I like this double Robbie's vocal and double echo and so great to hear Robbie's young voice in the end.
