It's a 3rd number of the year for Harry Styles, 2 of them album tracks yet to be singles (C'mon Harry get a move on!) as he joins the hat-trick club with the laid-back summer-sounds of Daydreaming - sounded very good in 32C temperatures last week on holiday in Gran Canaria. Not a lot of acts have managed 3 number ones in my chart in a calendar year: Middle Of The Road did it in 1971, Wizzard and The Sweet in 1973, Abba had 4 in 1976, 5 in 1979 and 5 in 2021, The Police did it 1979, David Bowie in 1983, Frankie Goes To Hollywood in 1984, Pet Shop Boys and Madonna in 1986, Pet Shop Boys again in 1987, 1988, 1993, 2016, 4 in 1996, 2006, 2009, Michael Jackson 3 in 1988, The KLF 3 in 1991, Enigma 3 in 1994, George Michael in 1996, Texas in 1997 and 4 in 1999, Robbie Williams 3 in 2000, Glen Campbell in 2008, Lady Gaga 2009, and that is all.

Alok, Sigala and Ellie Goulding all get a new peak of 2 with the fab All By Myself, aka Depeche Mode Enjoy The Silence, Honey. soar from 73 to 4 with the Abba-esque What Now, and Rend Collective yee-haw it to 10. New entries from Elton John & Dua Lipa returning with Cold Cold Heart (pub quiz on holiday played it every night), with taylor Swift's new track Anti-Hero the highest actual brand new track at 48.

Lewis Capaldi finally gets a chart entry with Forget Me, David Guetta extends his run with a rewrite of Blue (Ba-da-boom ba-da-bing), Queen drop an unreleased track with actual Freddie Mercury to extend a chart run to 48 years, Sam Smith and Kim Petras duet and each chart return with Unholy, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back after a bit of a gap, Liam Gallagher goes the bonus album track route, Ed Sheeran finally gets one of his weekly new tracks to register with me. Less is sometimes more, Edward! Tiffany, meanwhile, is back! She had 3 chart entries in 1987 and 1988, and then nothing else for 35 years. Well she's back with a decent maturer-sounding vocal!

Also I saw Dennis in 03 as part of a school friends invite to people at the school for his birthday to see at the local Dome. I think that was my first acknowledgement of Dr Hook's music.

Fab dab chart John :yahoo:

Hey John!

A massive yes at cold heart entering now. I cannot believe you haven't chatted it before though. What's that about? I think comparing it to hold me closer, cold heart does work out better.

Anti-hero is amazing. All of these record she's broken with the album in one day is amazing to see.

Forget me is very decent and probably the first song by him that I've actually liked. Might get round to chatting it eventually.

Good new entry for I'm good even if I'm over it now. It's great use of an older.song is the best yet.

Celestial is a lovely song from Ed Sheeran and I'm a bit dissyits not performing anywhere near as well as some of his previous stuff from the last few years. It's much better than half of it.

Another massive yes at Kiss Ke entering too. What a song. The video is very 2000's realness.

Fab chart ^_^

Hi there John!

Nice to see "Daydreaming" at the top, as well as "All By Myself" getting that large gain in the top 3, the big gains for "Do I Love You", "Not Over Yet" and "Body Paint", "Summer Really Hurt Us" and "Flashdance" and the debuts for "Cold Heart", "Anti-Hero", "Forget Me", "I'm Good", "Wolf", "Face It Alone", "Celestial" and "Kiss Me".

Great chart!

Hi Rob! :) Thanks for the lotsa picks and comments!

The Kursaal Flyers were great fun, and Little Does She Know is so beautifully OTT and earnest but with its tongue in its cheek

Cold Heart is fab, I think Hold Me Closer has the bonus of sentiment at having Britney back, but wont have the legs of Cold Heart. Dance All Over Me may well be my fave Ezra record, bar maybe Shotgun :o

Heartstrings flopping bemuses me, it's got Hit written all over it, so I can only put it down to lack of awareness (poor streaming promo or something like it)! Love the new Taylor single, hope it does well, and yes supermarkets are fab for odd music coming at you, it's most def not done with computer programming and analysis cookies and marketing, just music fans probably. :cheer:

Glad you like Sharing The Night Together, I was very miffed it was a UK flop at the time, as it came before When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman and I preferred it. Hey ho! It was nice to see it get some itunes recognition. Great you saw Dennis Lacorriere in concert! I got free tickets to see him from work (the Council occasionally gives out freebies if the acts don't sell out and they decide they'd rather have a full house, so underwrite the losses). He was really great live, his solo stuff came over really well and the Dr Hook oldies were fun and sweet sadness for me hearing them. It paid off cos I forked out to see him a few years later on his next tour, where I prob wouldnt have bothered without the freebies. :D

Fab chart ^_^

Hey James! :)

Cold Heart had a long run in 2021 and went top 10, but I heard it on holiday a lot and charted it again. As I now have different memories attached to it, and it's been absent for ages I just treat it as a different run with a different peak position. Back in the day re-issues of records were common and they got listed separately in those days in chart books, so I've always treated a new entry by an oldie in a different year as NEW instead of RE

Looks like Taylor easily outselling everyone else week one this year, her fans are very loyal!

Shame about Celestials not doing the usual Ed Sheeran business, I think it must be that people are getting annoyed with his obvious ongoing attempt to rack up the most top 10 hits in chart history with a new release every other week so its starting to backfire on him!

Cheers for the comments! B-)

COLD COLD HEART

THAT was a classic

It finished #3 on my EOY last year. It warms my heart how universally appreciated it's become
