True Dan, but even a predictable good #1 is a step up on a predictable awful #1. And hopefully when people realise the Christmas #1 slot is up for grabs again you will get more acts like Ed & Elton will take advantage of SCR to get there with new music. Or maybe Mariah will come back in favour and beat Wham! in a future year. Or maybe Brenda will eventually get there if she continues her upward trajectory. Whatever comes next I’m very glad to see the back of this era.

Another thought from me - Whilst it would be a moment to have Wham! beat LadBaby this year, I do worry that if the OCC don't do something about the complete domination of Christmas songs in December, then Wham! could very well be Christmas number one every year from now on, which would be even more boring.

 

It is now MUCH bigger than Mariah, and she only starts bigger due to "Whamaggedon" in the beginning of December :( Then it explodes as people lose that.

The OCC caused this, by beating down Mariah during her imperial Xmas phase and bigging up Wham, even GIFTING THEM HER RECORD OF MOST CONSUMED SONG IN A WEEK EVER!!!!
