Meck featuring Leo Sayer - Thunder In My Heart Again

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/APOLLO101T.JPG

The mighty 'Thunder In My Heart' features none other than the mighty Leo Sayer. Originally released back in 1977, the yester-year classic gets the housed up treatment for 2006. This single features a very heavy dose of storming filtered disco beats with plenty of bouncy grooves. - HMV

Madonna - Sorry

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/W703CD2.JPG

The second single to be lifted from 'Confessions On A Dancefloor' is the instant club classic 'Sorry'. Never one to conform to any given musical style, the track is layered with addictive beats (supplied by Stuart Price), a formidable bassline and plenty of clever pop hooks. And if that wasn't enough, the track gets a smoothed out re-working with additional vocals supplied by the Pet Shop Boys. - HMV

Chico - It's Chico Time

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/82876812132.JPG

The strangest, funniest and most electric performance in X-Factor history went to Chico, who did an X-Factor first and performed his own song written by Mark Hudson called, wait for it - 'Its Chico Time'. Simon Cowell's comment of "it was so awful that it was good!" means that the former goat herder finally launches his infectious tune to the masses. - HMV

Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/82876843422.JPG

The girl that webcast from her basement in Tooting to thousands of people across the globe now releases her debut single 'I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)'. The subsequent buzz saw her become the first high profile signing by Craig Logan as he steps into his position at the head of the newly re-launched RCA label. Following the success of artists like KT Tunstall, Sandi should do well with her fairly unique mix of powerful, rootsy, soulful vocals and sparse instrumentation, consisting of only percussion and drums. - HMV

'Hips Don't Lie', a brand new track not featured on the current version of Shakira's 'Oral Fixation Vol.2' album, is a feel-good, summery, soca-rhythm track, with guest vocals from Wyclef Jean, which is much more of a catchy pop track than anything she has released since her breakthrough hit, 'Whenever, Wherever'. - HMV

McFly Please Please / Don't Stop Me Now

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/01703586.JPG

McFly are back! The first single from their forthcoming third album is a double A-side for good reason: 'Please, Please' is the theme tune to the movie 'Just My Luck', in which McFly star as themselves (a British band trying to break America), alongside Lindsay Lohan - whom, if you have read the tabloids of late, Harry McFly made good use of his "down" time with whilst filming in LA.

The flipside - a cover of Queen's 'Don't Stop me Now' was chosen by Sport Relief to be their official single for 2006 because the sentiment of the song so well encapsulates the essence of the charity's approach to tackling poverty and encouraging Sporting England as we take on the world in the World Cup and Wimbledon. -HMV

Taken from her forthcoming second solo album, 'B Day', 'Deja Vu' is a New Orleans-inspired funk workout from the sometime-Destiny's Child singer, featuring familiar cohort rapper Jay-Z (who's come out of retirement especially),with production duties courtesy of Rodney Jerkins, working his best Rich Harrison impersonation with his use of 808 instruments and sound systems. - HMV

Justin Timberlake - SexyBack

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/82876886832.JPG

Having been away from the music scene for the last couple of years to pursue an acting career (apart from the odd cameo appearances on records with Snoop Dogg and Sergio Mendes), Justin Timberlake finally makes a dramatic return to the charts with the Timbaland-produced 'SexyBack'. Not so much a comeback as a mission statement, 'SexyBack' acts as a taster for Justin’s forthcoming album, 'FutureSex/ LoveSounds', his second since he departed the boyband N*Sync, becoming one of the slickest male solo artists of the 21st century. With dirty and sleazy synth riffs, processed vocals and lyrics oozing sexual intentions, 'SexyBack' might well just be Pop Single of the Year. The track also goes some way to cement Timbaland's status of being 2006's hottest producer, which he already demonstrated on Nelly Furtado's 'Maneater' - HMV

The X Factor has yet again been the biggest TV story this year with viewing figures of over 10m every week. The contestants and judges have dominated our airwaves over the past few months with some of the UK's (and the World's!) brightest characters and biggest voices.

Released on the 20th December, 'A Moment Like This', a cover of Kelly Clarkson’s American Idol smash, is a fantastic offering for X Factor fans and makes a perfect Christmas stocking filler gift for all.

Last years winner Shayne Ward's debut single 'That's My Goal' raced straight to the coveted Christmas number 1 spot selling 750k copies in just 4 days and has now sold to date over 1 million copies, and this year's winner Leona Lewis looks set to top that feat. - HMV
