I think it's cos it's track #4 on the Christmas Hits playlist so only behind Mariah, Wham and Brenda Lee

but again not sure if it's just #4 for me or if it's the same for everyone

maybe it's another Taylor's Farm scenario :D

let's just pray this Central Cee song falls off after the first week and doesn't get even bigger after Xmas, if he denies Raye from a #1 in January that would be a huge chart injustice.

Why am I scared this will happen :(

 

I actually think it would probably be the biggest chart injustice in recent years actually!

Central Cee songs rarely rise following release weeks so I doubt it! It may just rise in 2 weeks time due to the Xmas songs falling!

LadBaby showing up nowhere so far, I know Ed's streaming power helped them along last year but I feel like they went one too far putting this one out.

 

Ed and Elton coming on board and getting that fourth consecutive No.1 felt like a natural end and climax to the story. Five in a row is overkill, the song is lyrically depressing and for me misses the spirit of Christmas charity songs completely, I didn't like their last four but I can see why others found them fun - maybe they still will with this, I don't know. But if it gets over 100k for them I'll be surprised, with the continued contraction of the download market and because the hype seems a lot lower than last year.

 

I wish we had access to Kworb still to see what was going on with the downloads! I'm sure they'll still do it but I notice Wham! has fallen to 14/1 with some bookies now. They're surely the smart second choice if the public fail to get behind Food Aid, unless The K*nts absolutely go for it hell for leather, and the public get behind them enough. Granted LadBaby going from over 130k last year to under 60k this year is unlikely to happen, so I'm sure they will still be No.1 due to the lack of big competition.

 

Watch as they smash a 200k opening now.

It's not even in their Top 5 on Spotify which doesn't bode well, I don't know how much that means, but still....

one has to wonder though in the unlikely event LadBaby drop out of the running and it ends up being close between Wham and The Kunts, that the OCC could in theory decide to give Wham a Reset to prevent The Kunts from being Xmas number one.

Agreed the "humourous" lyrics about people being underpaid is disgusting.

76,578 first day streams on Spotify for LadBaby.

 

Not sure how that compares to the Ed and Elton collab but that did 20k sales of its 136k opening tally on streams, so this will have to pick up a lot to come near that. I notice it's been added to the Christmas Is Coming playlist in the 4th spot though, so that will be a big boost - the playlist has over 1m likes!
