Was there ever really any doubt? Blackpink have now equalled Ariana Grande's tally of 3 EOY #1s and with how bare Ari's release schedule is looking, look set to take the outright record any year now. I do have to say that out of their three, I would rank this as my least favourite even if it is now my most played song of theirs and within 10 listens of becoming my top song ever on last.fm. I would say that's more down to my change in listening habits than it genuinely being my favourite. But that's not to say that it's not deserving of it's winning position here. My 2nd most listened to song of the year is closer in listens to my 25th most listened song than it is to Pink Venom. There is so much I love about this track: I've previously mentioned it but every time Jisoo sings in English, my heart melts, Rosé's leather look is a serve, the random Notorious B.I.G., 50 Cent, Taylor Swift and Rihanna references, Jennie wearing a Man Utd shirt (a true believer because we were playing awful at the time) and her brilliant rapped verse. Jennie was originally meant to be the main rapper for Blackpink but Lisa has taken over her mantle over time. However, Jennie's verse here is so good she has earned her crown back. The internal rhyme scheme and flow is honestly better than anything I've heard come from a few big name rappers in their whole careers.

Decade-to-date Top 300

We're now 3 years into the (not-so) roaring 20s so I thought I was make an update to the decade-to-date chart. Here are the tracks that we're in my top 200 at last year's stage that have fallen out of this years top 300.

Falling out:

AJ Tracey & Mabel - West Ten (82-187)

Watsky - Border In My Heart (x-193)

Kanye West feat. Travis Scott - Wash Us In The Blood (98-194)

Little Mix - Trash (196)

Little Mix - Cut You Off (197)

Ariana Grande & Kid Cudi - Just Look Up (198)

13 '2022' hits made their debut in this session with only 'Voltage' missing my list from my EOY top 100 and 'Treat Me' being the lowest of my #1 hits. This includes Saba's only entry. 'Good Wife' and 'Sweet / I Thought You Wanted To Dance' both climb in after being just outside last year but the biggest story is the new entry for Charli XCX's 'Party 4 U'. I missed out on the 'How I'm Feeling Now' hype in 2020 but I fell in love with the album last year and this track did enough to make the list after it was included on her setlist for the CRASH tour and I was lucky enough to see it performed live. 'I'm Workin' is the biggest loser in this section and looks set to drop out completely in a year's time. 'Momentary Bliss' and 'Rover' are the only tracks so far that have been in each three lists. The drop for 'Addicted' is quite harsh and I expect it will recover slightly by next year. It's only entry for Weki Meki and Galantis but Mabel, Ariana, Everglow and J. Cole have more to come.

274. (93-171-274) Jorja Smith feat. Popcaan - Come Over

275. (NE) Blaze, The Rebel feat. Samad Savage, J.1.DA & Solis - Humble Beginnings

5 new entries from 2022 with tracks from Hailee Steinfeld, Ari Lennox, Blackpink, Sabrina Carpenter and Blaze, The Rebel making their debut. Two songs that were just outside last year climb giving Lorde her only entry and Tyler his 7th. The best hold of any song comes from 'Body' that has a 63 place drop instead of the rest that are mainly hitting 90+. Three songs falling for Ariana with her #1 single (in my charts) 'Stuck With U' taking the most drastic 100 place drop. Frisco has been in the list for all three years so far but his time is beginning to look limited. This is the only time we'll be seeing from Anne-Marie but most other artists still make an appearance in some form.

Despite never making my weekly charts, 'Supalonely' by Benee makes a belated debut. I never got into it when it was in the charts but heard it again last year and really enjoyed it. I just wish it didn't have that rubbish guest verse from Gus Dapperton.

8 new entries from 2022 with tracks from Charli XCX (x2), Freddie Gibbs, J.I.D, The Weeknd (x2), Tate McRae and Ashe. The best hold of any song in this section is for SG that only drops 40 places thanks to Blackpink's stellar year. It's Taylor Swift's section with three entries from the Folklore and Evermore albums. The biggest faller is 'Holiday' by Little Mix (98 positions) and this is the only we'll see of Sarcastic Sounds.

8 new entries from 2022 if we include 'Overseas' which was released very late in '21. The tracks come from Tate McRae (x2), Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson. The biggest winner is Dua Lipa's 'Phsyical' which continues to grow on me every year and makes this countdown despite never making an EOY top 100. 'Little More Love' has the biggest drop and becomes the third #1 hit to drop out with AJ's 'Hikikimori' overtaking it. This is the highest entry for Jorja Smith and the only entries (as lead artist) for Snoh Aalegra, Ty Dolla $ign and Nines. Everyone else has more to come. The best hold comes from Rosé‘s ‘Gone’.

9 2022 releases make their debut coming from Blackpink, Charli XCX, Kim Petras, Calvin Harris, The Weeknd, Sabrina Carpenter, Joji, Danger Mouse & Sofia Carson. The first of Madison Beer's Life Support albums tracks climbs in. Now were' in the top 200 I'll provide a little comment of each other song.

Three album tracks in this section from Maisie Peters (Brooklyn), Chloe x Halle (Busy Boy) and Run The Jewels (Goonies vs. E.T.). All of them have higher entries to come but, out of the three, GvET has held the best. Killer Mike's verse is the highlight of the track and hasn't got old for me yet. Brooklyn wouldn't be the first track I'd go back to from YSUFT but with a new album coming soon, I think the hype will be enough for it to have a better hold next year. Busy Boy is now in it's third year and has been overshadowed by Chloe's solo releases.

'Miss Me' was a fluke #1 in my charts with the song it beat to the top spot not appearing until much later in this countdown. The 'Tory Lanez' diss line has held up better than the song. A more successful British rap collab comes from Bugzy and Chip who's 'Notorious' has the best hold of any song in this section. The combination of the two ex-rivals and the Tupac and Biggie parallels still work well. 'X&Y' is the only entry for Hardy Caprio & SL but I have actually been going back to SL's 2017 hit 'Tropical' more than this one over the past year. The American pairing of Kid Cudi & Eminem is also riding strong with 'The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady' having the 2nd best hold. Eminem's verse is one of the best he's done in ages with only the odd 'using the bathroom an' vacuumin' bar stopping it from being perfect.

Other rap hits come from Nine8's 'Pusha' that actually dates from 2018 but only caught my attention in 2021. I didn't go back to it much last year, the chorus still slaps but was starting to get effected by me overplaying it. Lil Tjay has two features in this section. 'The Jackie' is all about Bas and Cole's contributions whereas I'm more into Tjay's verse on Mood Swings. I'm usually not a massive fan of the 'gangsta sex-jam' genre but for some reason it just works coming from Pop Smoke, even with some cringy lines.

Future Starts Now is a great record from Kim Petras and has a good hold here. I'm a bit worried the now the album this was made for has been scrapped that it might get lost from my memory. Especially when she has released my favourite song from her, 'Brrr', very recently. Two dance/popy tracks now from Anabel Englund and Ava Max. They are both their respective artists only entry. 'Midnight Rapture' is all about the rap verse for me. I'm honestly pretty obsessed with it. I should go back to the track more. 'My Head & My Heart' is a bit of a guilty bop for me. I've never really been huge on Ava's style that leans towards the generic but there's something about this one that just works for me.

Completing the section is two tracks from Bebe Rexha. 'Break My Heart Myself' was the bigger hit in my charts in 2021 but I'm found myself going back to 'Sacrifice' more recently and it has slightly closed the gap here. I feel like it will eventually climb above it by the end of the decade.

175. (NE) Kendrick Lamar feat. Blxst & Amanda Reifer - Die Hard

8 more 2022 releases make their debut in this section coming from Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs, Megan Thee Stallion, J.I,D (x2), Blackpink, The Weeknd & Saweetie. Another one of Madison Beer's Life Support albums tracks climbs in too with 'Stained Glass'.

It's hard to climb in these charts but that's what Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar's 'Family Ties' has managed to do. It's 2 place rise can be largely attributed to it's show-stopping performance on Kendrick's tour. They spent about 15 minutes hyping the crowd up before actually performing it

Keem and Kendrick may be cousins but we have some brothers in this section too with Jme & Skepta both landing their highest entries. 'Live' had a pretty good hold from 20-21 but has a steeper fall this year. The interplay between Jme and Merky Ace is really fun. I should spin it more this year. 'St Tropez' comes from Skept's all-star collaborative album with Chip & Young Adz and bangs due to it's 'Paper Planes' sample. It wasn't one of the singles from the album and isn't holding up that great. The other UK rap entry comes from the even more star-studded collaboration between Dave, Fredo, Meekz, Ghetts and Giggs. 'In The Fire' had a wonderful performance at the BRITs last year but it's exclusion from the track list when I saw Dave on tour is understandable, if disappointing. Still not a fan of Giggs' verse though and the awful 'bunion' line.

Three other artists I saw on tour last year help their tracks stay fresh in my mind. Griff was the support artist when I saw Dua Lipa last April and 'Black Hole' was the highlight of her set. Dua's whole performance was a highlight and inspired me to spam the album loads with 'Break My Heart' even re-entered my chart and gained a new #3 peak. I also saw Olivia Rodrigo later on in the year and 'Brutal' is certainly the type of track that feels made for a live setting.

Two of my all-time favourite artists see album tracks in this section. 'Love Language' is one of the best from 'positions' but Ari's quiet year hasn't helped it's chances. Blackpink, on the other hand, dominated my 2022 and 'Love To Hate Me' picked up it's fair share of listens. Other album tracks come from Kacey Musgraves 'Simple Times', which is supported by an iconic music video and DaBaby's 'Nasty'. DaBaby has not had a good couple of years and has lost almost all of his credibility and commercial prospects. His track 'Nasty' is not holding up well either. It's pretty gimmicky but it is nice to hear Ashanti's vocals again.

Dove Cameron has had a great year in my chart but her decision to pretend she had never released any music before 'Boyfriend' and scrubbing her tracks from YouTube and streaming means I've had to upload a local file of it to my Spotify to continue to listen to last year's 'LazyBaby'. It's still a fun song! We eventually got new music from Haillee Steinfeld too last year, even it it was just the one track. The Annie Lennox sampling 'I Love You's' is still my favourite track from her this decade.

We see our first tracks that were in last year's top 100 with 'P*$$y Fairy (OTW)', 'Big Ole Freak' & 'Best Friend' all having steep falls. The Jhené Aiko song just hasn't been on my radar at all recently for whatever reason and 'Big Ole Freak' has lost some of it's charm. It dates from 2018 and it's one of the rare songs from outside the 20s I'm allowing in this list as I had never heard it before this decade started. It's starting to sound a few years older than everything else. 'Best Friends' has been overshadowed by Saweetie's better follow-up from last year that is a new entry a couple of places higher.

7 2022 releases make their debut in this section with entries coming from Ashe (x2), Taylor Swift, Leah Kate, Tiësto, Danger Mouse & Digga D. Another one of Madison Beer's Life Support albums tracks climbs in too with 'Emotional Bruises'.

Double Little Mix with two album tracks from the Confetti with 'Gloves Up' overtaking 'Happiness'. 'Gloves Up' always felt like it would be a great track for the live setting and it was used in the tour as a medley with 'Power' and the excitement of that was enough for it to climb above 'Happiness'. I think with solo-releases presumably coming this year, their catalogue and 'Happiness' will stay in rotation for me.

Three artists, 21 Savage, Headie One & Tion Wayne, have their only entry as lead artist fall in this section with 'Secret', 'Ain't It Different', 'I Dunno'. 'Secret' felt like such a departure from 21's usual style that it sounded so fresh but it's been overshadowed by some great features and Summer Walker's top album that has been released since. 'Ain't It Different' has some A-List features but I haven't found myself going back to it much after the initial hype. The sample is cool but it's not helped by Stormzy putting in a so-so verse. He's much better on 'I Dunno' though with his verse being a standout alongside some surprisingly nice chemistry between Tion and Dutchavelli.

Five more artists also drop out with their highest entries. 'Die For A Man' felt like such an odd-pairing between Bebe Rexha and Lil Uzi Vert but it somehow works and the catchy chorus has meant it has climbed above 'BMHYM' despite peaking lower in my chart. I really found myself enjoying Lauren Jauregui's underrated 'Prelude EP' with the highlight being the Vic Mensa collaboration 'Scattered'. I did forget about it largely though last year, probably due to any ex-Fifth Harmony member not called Camila seeming to have less than no hype or excitement surrounding them. Despite the barrage of hits since, 'Loading' remains Central Cee's best track and it holding up brilliantly with the saxophone giving it an addictive and unique flavour amongst the usual drill production. 'Boyfriend' was a #1 hit for Mabel in my chart in 2020 but isn't holding great being one of two tracks (alongside 'Happiness') that was in my 2020 Top 40 to already drop out here. I'm pretty excited for a J Hus comeback but his Burna Boy collaboration 'Play Play' (from his #1 album) is doing a good job in tiding me over in the wait.

Three album tracks all having good holds with 'Jealousy, Jealousy' being my favourite non-single from 'Sour' and being performed brilliant by Olivia on her tour date I attended. 'Walking In The Snow' just sounds better and better every time I hear it with El-P and Killer Mike's commentary on inequality and police brutality losing none of their relevance or impact. RIP to Gangsta Boo (of Three 6 Mafia) who provides some vocals on the track and passed away earlier this year. 'Still Dreamin' was one of the bonus track on the deluxe version of Dreamville's 'Revenge of the Dreamers III' and has worked its way to be one of the projects best tracks with each rapper's storytelling verse being engrossing and the chorus being a proper earworm.

The Taylor Version re-releases sees representation through 'Love Story' which has the perfect blend of being iconic enough that I have tonnes of nostalgia for it, but wasn't one I was listening to much at the time allowing it to be a belated hit for me in 2021. And it was a remix that allowed Whole Lotta Money become Bia's first entry in my charts (5 years after I saw her as a support act on the Dangerous Woman World Tour). It's probably Nicki's best verse for a fair while but is overshined by Cole's even stronger verse on Bia's more recent hit.

Even with a remix with my all-time favourite singer, it is the original version of' Save Your Tears' that was a hit in my chart. It was my instant highlight from the album and I was already well-over it by the time it started making waves in the charts. And now it's a monster hit that has been over-played to death and I think I need a couple years of not hearing it again. The last entry in this section is 'Come & Go'. I remember the Marshmello collaboration sounding potentially awful on paper, but has worked well in practise. I didn't go back to it all that much though last year mind.

The 7 2022 releases making their debut come from The Game, Taylor Swift, Madison Beer, Pete & Bas, Maisie Peters, The Weeknd and Itzy.

In a great section for album tracks, there are 7 non-singles amongst the non-2022 tracks in this section. 2022 was the year where Kanye finally went over the edge in terms of acceptability of his public persona which hasn't helped 'Jail'. I still love the basic, simplistic beat that builds tension throughout the track but it feels a little too on the nose at the moment and let's pretend 'pt. 2' never happened. 'Yumeko' has had a pretty solid hold for the second year now. It's from the overlooked 'Secure The Bag 2' EP and has been my go-to AJ Tracey track of late. 'Chicago Freestyle' is Drake's highest hit of the decade but I've been listening to the song it interpolates, 'Superman' by Eminem more than it recently. Talking of Eminem, 'Yah Yah' makes an appearance. Black Thought's verse remains the highlight.

More album tracks appear including 'Villian' by Maisie Peters. It's had one of the best holds in this section. Not bad for a track that wasn't amongst my highlights on my first few listens of the album. But the best hold of this section, even managing a 6 place climb, comes from 'Follow The White Rabbit'. Madison Beer just had an amazing year in general for me last year and her tracks all see the benefit. 'Safety Net' is the highest album track from 'positions'. It really was the single that got away, with Ty sounding better than ever.

We are really starting to see some #1 hits appear with four more in this section. 'Not Shy' is the weakest of Itzy's 5 #1 hits in my chart and 'Willow' has been overshadowed by 'Midnights' dominance at the end of the year. Little Mix had their final tour before hiatus  but 'No' was not part of the setlist so it didn't manage a tour boost. I had already kinda forgot about Pussycat Dolls' comeback 'React' but it's still a bit of a banger to be fair.

'Lumberjack' was the lead-single from Tyler's latest album and is still a massive tune. An even weirder choice for lead single was J. Cole's 'i n t e r l u d e'. It's a short track but has plenty of replayability, especially with the coldest final bars of any song of the decade so far. 'The Woo' wasn't quite the lead-single from Pop Smoke's posthumous album but it was certainly the projects first big hit. It was nice to hear '50 Cent' again and while it's still Pop Smoke's highest placement in this list, I've found myself more likely to throw on 'Dior' or 'Mood Swings' if I want to listen to Pop Smoke more recently.

Double Doja Cat with her Weeknd collaboration 'You Right' and her feature on the remix of Ari Lennox's 'BMO'. They both appear back-to-back and had had fairly big tumbles. 'You Right' never seemed to be as big as you expected and feels like it's already been largely forgotten about but her verse on 'BMO' still sounds fresh. When Doja's at her best, her flow is so unpredictable and you feel like she can take you anywhere and while the BMO verse is short, it does take you on a fun journey.

The final two tracks come from Phony Ppl and Dua Lipa. 'Fkn Around' features Megan Thee Stallions best work. She oozes charisma in the track and she has never sounded more like a star. But don't overlook Phony Ppls's contribution, the hook is an earworm for the ages. 'Love Again' was one of many tracks that I loved to hear during the Future Nostalgia tour. It's really starting to feel like it's time for the lead single from DL3 though.

Seven more #1 hits in this section with the most unlikely of which is TikTok's star Dixie's 'Psycho'. It's not great but it's a huge guilty pleasure of mine. I don't see it holding up well throughout the decade. At least it's still 100x better than the song with the same title in the top 40 at the moment. More successful is 'Sour Candy'. Every Blackpink song had a good year for me last year and with the 'Hyde Park' concert to come, I think 2023 will be great too. 'Boss Bitch' was from the Birds of Prey soundtrack and isn't my go-to Doja track. 'Wasted' is something I should hate but the sample is infectious and ArrDee's verse is his only tolerable one so far.

'The 1' has one of my favourite choruses from Taylor but the release of 'Midnights' has meant that it's not now her highest position here. 'Drivers License' is the lowest of Olivia's remarkable 4 #1 hits from 2021. It's an instantly iconic (proper) debut single but she's already bettered it. 'In The Morning' is right bang in the middle of Itzy's #1 in my chart. Fun hook but not as memorable as 'Loco' or 'Wannabe'.

Madison Beer has another climber(!) with 'Blue' climbing up 29 places. It was an instant favourite from the album, peaking at #3 in 2021 but managed a new #2 peak last year after her tour. Not quite managing to climb but still having strong holds are 'Money' & 'What's Poppin'. 'Money' is certainly helped by Lisa's pole-dancing performance of it on the Born Pink tour and it's starting to catch up to 'Lalisa' in terms of listens. While it's the remix version that I charted, I have belatedly got into original version of 'Whats Poppin' recently. Probably to rid the song of the Tory and Baby associations, even if I think both of their verses are great.

Other album tracks in this section come from three legendary MCs: Eminem, J. Cole and Kanye West. 'I Will' feels like old-school Em with a killer chorus. Royce's provides the best verse for me. 'a p p l y i n g . p r e s s u r e' really hit me after the video was released. Cole's raps are as gold as ever but his meandering intro and MLK sample have proved more contentious. 'Jesus Lord' is comfortably Kanye's best release of the decade. Jay Electronica came from nowhere to drop one of the best verses I've heard for a while and Kanye is at his most focused and personal. The 'Jeeeeesus Lord' sampled vocal is classic Kanye production too.

'Do It' has a big drop for Chloe x Halle. I'm not sure why but it completely dropped of my radar last year. It's still bangs so I'll endeavour to give it some more spins in 2023. 'Feel Like Shit' became Tate's first hit in my chart and set her up for a bumper 2023. The music video is particularly impressive showing off what a great dancer Tate is in addition to her knack of writing the odd pop hit. 'Magic' is still pretty magic from Ill Blu and OFB's Bandokay and Double Lz . They work well over a non-drill beat as is a nice change of pace from their other releases. The final track in this section is Doja Cat's 'Need To Know'. I think it's a great showing of what Doja's all about with a range of fresh and exciting flows with playful lyrics.

The 8 2022 releases making their debut come from Madison Beer, Itzy, Maisie Peters, Sabrina Carpenter, Dove Cameron, Taylor Swift, J.I.D, Stormzy.

A further 9 #1s drop out of the running as we enter the top quarter of the countdown. 'All I Want' was technically released it late 2019, but it wasn't until 'Drivers License' sent Olivia stratospheric that it reached the UK top 40 and made an impression on me. It was one of tracks I was really excited to hear live on the tour. 'Don't Go Yet' has had a stellar second year, being helped by Camila's album release. I love when she embraces her Cuban roots as they always seem to be her most fun tracks. 'Wannabe' was Itzy's first hit in my chart but not their highest here. It hasn't held up brilliantly after being within the top 15 of my original EOY chart in 2020. It's even worse news for the other 2020 K-Pop #1 in this section with 'Ice Cream' being #12 in my 2020 EOY chart and already being as low as #67 now. It actually had a pretty decent hold in 2022, it was 2021 that really let it down.

The rest of the #1s represent the artists highest placing (as lead artist) and it's better news for K-Pop tracks from 2021 as 'The Feels' has a solid hold for Twice. The track is still an absolute ball-of-joy and still doesn't fail to put a smile on my face. It's also better news for Selena's other track 'Rare' that just misses out on remaining in my top 50. Despite being released in the first week of 2020, the whole 'Rare' album is still one of my favourite releases of the decade so far. Childish Gambino's '35.31' might not have the snappiest of titles, but it has a pretty snappy hook that get stuck in your head with ease. It sounds perfect for TikTok and I'm still waiting for it to start to trend on there and become a big hit. 'Breadwinner' is another song with a catchy chorus and remains my go-to from the 'Star-Crossed' album. 'You Should Be Sad' is by far my favourite song from Halsey and I love the video. The 'I'm so glad I never had a baby with you' line still stings hearing it now.

The real winner in this section is not a #1 but is Abra Cadabra's 'On Deck'. It's aged like fine wine, it sounds better and better every time I hear it. I'm happy in declaring it my favourite drill song of all-time. 'Ooh La La' is another one that still sounds fresh. Especially now that I've been getting into Gang Starr and heard their original 'DWYCK'. 'Wishing Well' is one that I haven't been going back to as much but I still think it's the best track from the 'Legends Never Die' album. Ari Lennox has one of my favourite voices in R&B at the moment and she uses it brilliantly on 'Bussit' making the OTT dirty lyrics sound heavenly.

Two artists making their only appearance are Spillage Village and grouptherapy. Shiva was, remarkably, beaten to #1 in my chart by MoStack's 'Miss Me' that is all the way down at #182. It's safe to say who ended up winning the war. I love this type of soulful, introspective track that we often get from the Dreamville-associated artists. 'Raise It Up' is still a massive banger and, by far, the best thing I entered to BJSC. You were all wrong for not letting it qualify.

The last remaining tracks come from two of the biggest names in my chart. 'Good Ones' was the song that kickstarted Charli's comeback and ultimate domination of my charts and was the perfect choice of track to close the 'Crash' tour. It's just the perfect pop song. 'Lion King On Ice' could have easily fell away from my mind after it missed out on being included on Cole's 'The Off-Season' album but has managed to hold up well thanks to a memorable hook and some clever lyrics.

50. (13-27-50) Watsky feat. Raquel Rodriguez - Undermine

11 of this section are from the 2022 EOY with tracks making their debut from Pharrell Williams, Madison Beer, Kendrick Lamar, Dave, Charli XCX, Blackpink, Camila Cabello, Baby Queen, Ashe, Anitta & Tate McRae.

A majority of the artists here place their highest entry. On the day that Watsky has released what it potentially his final album, the lead single from his previous album has a heavy drop to #50. Maybe the hype will help it hold up better next year. 'Have Mercy' was the perfect start to Chlöe's solo career sans Halle, and nothing else she has released has come close to it since. 'Diamonds' was such a fun collaboration between Megan Thee Stallion and Normani for the 'Birds of Prey' soundtrack but now the film has come and gone, I haven't really thought about the song much since. 'Loco' is Itzy's best release so far in a consistently solid career. It really made me start to appreciate Yuna as one of my favourite members as she does a lot with little on this track. 'Ex For A Reason' is a different vibe to much of Summer Walker's music and was such a fun, upbeat and poppier tune that deserved more success as a lead single. The chorus is infectious! Pete & Bas's 'Plugged In' is by far the best of Fumez the Engineer's YouTube series and provided us with some of the hardest bars of the decade "Grab that man and I'm shaving his head like a ... Turkish barber". Bas's flows are insane and better than an other rapper has managed so far in the 2020s. 'Money Talks' takes the accolade for Music Video of the decade though. The video presented in backwards and telling the story of a £50 note that is used for some nefarious means is like a Hollywood movie and Fredo and Dave don't let us down with the bars either.

Rosé of course has more to come with Blackpink but her solo debut 'On The Ground' holds well at #42. Nearly the same place that it cruelly peaked in the UK charts. AJ Tracey has one more to come but appears here with his lockdown banger 'Dinner Guest'. It's an overused sample, but I think they managed to use it best with MoStack providing some fun lines too. Controversial I know but I've never been the biggest fan of Lady Gaga but her decision to collab with Blackpink and Ariana Grande gave her quick-fire back-to-back #1 hits in my chart with 'Rain On Me' becoming one of the defining songs of 2020. We have to cherish it to pieces with Ari's quiet schedule recently (until today haha). 'How You Like That' was #5 all the way in my 2020 EOY chart but is already down to #27 for Blackpink. The problem is that they've released so many bangers already that some get overlooked. They have 3 to come in my top 25.

Only three holders in this section did not hit #1 in my weekly charts with the biggest winner of the section being Madison Beer's 'Sour Times', climbing a crazy 39 places. I've already linked the video earlier, but it was her performance of this song in her lockdown Life Support concert that made me a stan and hearing it performed live was a moment. Another stunning live moment from 2022 was Dua Lipa going to the skies during 'Levitating'. The whole 'Future Nostalgia' is aging beautifully and this remains the highlight. 'Wusyaname' is still smooth as hell and NBA YoungBoy provides his greatest ever verse.

Nice to see that Levitating is still in your top 50 for the decade. I've been listening to the original version a lot more in the last year, not specifically because of DaBaby not being on it, but because after a year or more of almost exclusively hearing that version whenever it came on, the original started to sound fresh again.

I've been alternating between the two really. I definitely agree that it's been nice to go back to the original after hearing the DaBaby version non-stop in 2020.

6 of this section are from the 2022 EOY with tracks making their debut from Kendrick Lamar, Maisie Peters, Madison Beer, Blackpink x2 & Charli XCX.

When I suggested before that Chlöe didn't have anything else to come I was being duplicitous as she has one last song from her partnership with her sister. 'Forgive Me' remains the best track from their 'Ungodly Hour' album with Halle's lovely vocals working well with Chloe's sultry verses. 'Godzilla' was a surprise #1 that proves that Eminem has still got it. He uses his 'super-speed' flow to great effect in the final verse and it was great to hear Juice WRLD's posthumously work with one of his idols. 'Say So' was my first new #1 of the decade and is still holding up well with its funky style sounding fresh again now the overplaying is dying down. 'Bringing It Back' is the best Hip-Hop track of the decade to date and at #12 is the highest position for any male artist on my list. Digga and AJ both re-use flows from the videos that made them famous, namely CGM's 'Next Up' and AJ's 'Packages' video.

Two further entries for Madison Beer, one of the break-out stars in my chart this decade, and they both climb. 'Baby' earned her many comparisons to Ariana and it worked for me, providing her with her first #1 hit but her best release 'Boyshit' is the highest placed track that did not reach the top spot in my charts, landing in the top 10. They are the two poppiest moments on her wonderful 'Life Support' album and are both catchy as hell.

The second of three non-#1s in this section comes from my favourite rapper and one who seems to have no luck when it comes to my chart. 'p r i d e . i s . t h e . d e v i l' is my longest-running #2 hit, spending 5 consecutive weeks behind my #1 song of the decade. 'Good 4 U'. I never thought that Cole and Baby could work so well together but the transition between the two on the track is butter and Baby fully steps up to the occasion. One thing that did happen this decade is that Cole finally got his long-awaited #1 hit in my charts with 'The Climb Back'. He raps his heart out over a beat he produced himself with some sick samples. The final non-#1 hit comes from Everglow who's 'La Di Da' is electro-synth perfection. It's obviously riding off the back of 'Blinding Light's success but I think it's honestly better, sorry Abel. I can't help but think Zara Larsson had this on repeat when she came up with 'Can't Tame Her' too.

They might now be on hiatus but Little Mix can still celebrate two entries within my top 25. 'Break Up Song' is another from the synth-craze wave and has dropped a lot from EOY #4 in 2020 but 'Sweet Melody' is holding up much better with it being the impactful closer to their (maybe) final tour. I'm so glad that they got one last huge hit under their belts with this absolute belter. This might not be the decade for Ariana so far but she does have back-to-back tracks within my top 10. '34+35' started out at #2 in my 2020 EOY but has now been overtaken by the album's self-titled lead single 'Positions'. I'm not sure why but I've found myself going back to 'Positions' (the single) a lot lately.

My top 4 consists of the same tracks as it did 12 months ago but 3rd and 4th swap around giving Charli, Christine & Caroline the bronze medal and snatching it away from Maisie Peters. 'Psycho' is still absolute bubblegum pop-perfection but the album effect was enough for 'New Shapes' to overtake. The three work so well together on the track and the synth-y production is immense. I can't see myself getting tired of either of these tracks anytime soon.

Blackpink have picked up where they left off with 'Lovesick Girl's holding strong at #2. I haven't really stopped listening to it at all since it's release. They have a knack for for making their best songs so addictive, they must lace the ending of their tracks with crack as I instantly want to start it over as soon as it ends. The hype extends to their solo releases with Lisa's debut release 'Lalisa' also holding at #6. I'll take one last opportunity to mention how much she, Rosé, Jisoo and Jennie really killed it on tour.

This means that 'Good 4 U' and Olivia Rodrigo keep hold of the top prize. The pop-punk masterpiece has lost none of it's charm and screaming it out at Olivia's tour was one of my highlights of 2022. Her other track 'Deja Vu' has a small drop to #15. I think it's a fascinating track with it's indie influences and slow build leading to the sing-a-long chorus. I'm so ready find out what kind of stuff Olivia is going to drop to follow this.

Can Olivia stay at #1 for another year or wil Blackpink regain top spot with either 'Lovesick Girls' or 'Pink Venom' which is already comfortably my most played song of the decade to date. Or can anything from 2023 come out nowhere to reach those high? Let's find out next year!
