maybe it would have been funny to do transamerica vs she's the man!!

Other - "Richard III", the version with Ian McKellen and no, it is not strictly speaking a straight adaption because it's transported to the 1930s and features Richard as the leader of a quasi-Fascist Govt as its main plot, even though it does use Shakespeare's dialogue...

 

The Baz Luhrman take on "Romeo and Juliet" is pretty damned good as well...

What about West Side Story?

 

well even though i've never seen that one, it's more of an oldie musical isnt it? and not a teen comedy which i've seen. apart from old horror films which i'm only now discovering I dont really do that many films that are older than about 1999. (even romeo and juliet is pushing it, but i've seen that on tv). thats why it wasnt mentioned, i suppose
