That was a thriller! We've been starved of those so far this far this season but that was easily the best race this year.

The race broke/matched several all time records:

Most pit stops in a race - 89

Most overtakes in a race - 186

Most overtakes in a single lap - 63 (lap 3)

Most pit stops by the winner - 6 (ties with Button in Canada 2011)

Most pit stops in a race - 7 (this had only been done once before by Prost at Donnington 1993 but Stroll, Lawson and Russell all equalled it)

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will continue as Mercedes' driver line-up for at least the next two years.

Hamilton, 38, has signed a new contract that will extend his period with the team to 13 years and keep him in F1 well past his 40th birthday.

And Russell, who joined Mercedes in 2022, has also signed a two-year deal.

amazing amazing yesterday x Sanz in the qualy, incredible he beat Max to the pole

The track temp is going to be high. I will be surprised if Ferrari do not cook their tyres and fall back into Perez's clutches.

Why did they send them for another lap without the Alpha Tauri moving at all?

Max Verstappen set an all-time record with his 10th consecutive win as he broke Ferrari's valiant challenge at the Italian Grand Prix.

The Dutchman was held back by pole-winner Carlos Sainz's Ferrari for 14 laps but his pressure paid off when an error from the Spaniard gave him his chance.

Sainz locked his brakes into the first chicane and that allowed Verstappen to pass the Ferrari into the second chicane at Monza.

Sainz, after forcefully holding on to second place from team-mate Charles Leclerc, was left to fend off Verstappen's team-mate Sergio Perez for second place.

After many laps of defence, Sainz finally lost the position with nine laps to go and then set about fighting hard again to keep Leclerc behind for the final podium place.

Why did they send them for another lap without the Alpha Tauri moving at all?

They originally thought they could move the car quickly off the circuit so they sent them around again. However, during that second formation lap they realised the car was stuck in gear and unable to be moved without a truck

Some really great entertaining racing yesterday, that Ferrari battle I was sure was gonna end in tears!

Max Verstappen is the first driver since Sebastian Vettel in 2011 to win Monaco and Monza in the same season.

That's a good stat!

Next race at Singapore is the only track on the calendar Verstappen has never won at (obviously discounting Qatar & Las Vegas).

Good effort from Sainz to lead for as long as he did, but Verstappen is still just too quick. Gotta respect the incredible record of 10 wins in a row
Don't think Ferrari would have had much change of winning, but any they did have they let go of by not pitting one of their drivers sooner. As soon as Max overtook they should have been pitting that lap.

don't think Max passed cos Sanz made an error, lol his car is too good

Sanz deserved the win yesterday

Zhou has been confirmed that he will stay at Alfa Romeo/Sauber next year alongside Bottas.

You can always count on Singapore for upsetting the odds. Reminds me of 2015 during their imperial phase when the Mercs were absolutely nowhere.

Can't call it tomorrow. Ferrari have the pace but their tyre wear is horrendous so could be Russell vs Norris!

amazing for sanz

terrible for the red bulls

Sainz's idea of making a DRS train was pretty brilliant.

very risky but genius, loved the race

too bad about russell, he needs to learn to be aggressive without being too aggressive and crashing
