January 27, 20232 yr Author 8/9 songs are below: Will Church – “Hold On” Frida Gold – “Alle Frauen in mir sind müde” Patty Gurdy – “Melodies Of Hope” TRONG – “Dare To Be Different” Lord Of The Lost – “Blood And Glitter” René Miller – “Concrete Heart” Anica Russo – “Once Upon A Dream” Lonely Spring – “Misfit” All of their songs can be found here, apart from René's for some reason, may be fixed soon. The ninth is being chosen from a TikTok vote that runs all the way up until the day of the final on 3rd March, but it will be one of these six. Betül Leslie Clio From Fall To Spring Ikke Hüftgold JONA Mitchy Katawazi, André Katawazi, NASHUP this is quite a world away from the shite Germany were digging up last year! Frida Gold, Patty Gurdy, a load of bands and singers with seemingly reasonable followings, plus a TikTok competition. Seems promising.
January 27, 20232 yr A bit shocking Leslie Clio is placed as wildcard as I think she is the biggest name there
January 27, 20232 yr JONA went semi-viral on TikTok with his Eurovision song (aka the blandest song ever) which goes *ahem* No she is not a 7, not an 8, not a 9 Tell her she is a 10 but she won't believe you All her imperfections are perfect features She never had the life of a cheerleader queen I like René Miller – “Concrete Heart" but Germany will never choose that.
February 11, 20232 yr My rating: 1. Blood & Glitter (7/10) 2. Once Upon a Dream (7/10) 3. Alle Frauen in mir sind müde (7/10) 4. Melodies of Hope (7/10) 5. Hold On (7/10) 6. Concrete Heart (6/10) 7. Misfit (6/10) 8. Draw the Line (6/10) 9. Dare to be Different (5/10) 10. Heaven (5/10) (The mixing quality is bad I'm sorry x) 11. 10/10 (4/10) 12. Summertime (4/10) 13. Free Again (3/10) 14. Lied mit gutem Text (1/10) Top 5 rating: 7.0/10 Overall rating: 5.36/10 Leslie Clio's song being slap house is very bizarre. It's totally not her style lmao. Anyways there is a lot more flavour than last year but it's still not a stellar selection I fear. Edited February 11, 20232 yr by uhsting
March 3, 20232 yr Author No Frida Gold tonight, sadly Alina's been taken ill. I THINK I'm behind Patty Gurdy, Lord Of The Lost should be my thing but right now it's falling a little flat for me though that's sure to change if they win and I'm faced with the reality of a German entry being interesting for once. And Anica Russo has something going on that's similar to a lot of gothic vocalists that I like a lot. it's gonna be Will Church isn't it
March 3, 20232 yr Ikke Hüftgold is the one to look out for sadly :( Very likely to win due to popularity unless a miracle happens
March 3, 20232 yr Im unsure about how the German public react in general. If this was the UK I’d long have been resigned to Ikke winning but I’m not sure the Germans are quite as f***ing dumb as the Brits. Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen plenty of f***ed up takes but mostly in politics. Tonight should be interesting. Quite low stakes as let’s be honest here not a single one is in danger of troubling the top 15 even on a good night
March 3, 20232 yr Nobody ever went broke betting on Germany going for the wildcard entry against everyone's better judgement.
March 3, 20232 yr So far we have decided that not a single one of these people should be actually singing the songs they’re signing. Will Church should pass that off to Nico Santos. Rene should give it to Lewis Capalidi.
March 3, 20232 yr Seems like the juries have swung this for Will Church - at this point I will take "not actually offensively bad" from a German entry so not too fussed if that's the pick.
March 3, 20232 yr Honestly cackling at the German public paying absolute DUST to the snoozefest of a top 3 that the jury picked Lord of the Lost probably the best of the bunch
March 3, 20232 yr Lord of The Lost overcome the jury going cold on them and get the ticket to Liverpool! 1e-jy7YBIkQ
March 3, 20232 yr WOWWWWWWW finally a great choice from Germany! It brings something different to the table and I think it will do a lot better than last year for sure.
March 3, 20232 yr Wow, yeah there's no way that's a bottom five for them, kudos to Germany for taking a chance on something different for once. Thank god that dreadful Ballermann schlager didn't win.
March 4, 20232 yr Author Well that's the best chance they had on paper I'm pretty sure, well done Germany. I did think it was a rather strong national final with lots of songs I enjoyed (except Will Church, glad the juries got annihilated) but with many paths to obscurity on the final scoreboard. Now time to let it grow on me, and absorb the amazing implication that the German public took the Electric Callboy situation last year to heart and have sent a proper RED-BLOODED, FABULOUSLY DRESSED, NAPALM RECORDS, METAL BAND *.*
