January 4, 200718 yr You mean you've never seen the work of bizarre comedy/horror genius that is "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace"????? :o :o Shocking!! That is something for you definitely to purchase on DVD.... No. What is it exactly? Well I haven't seen classic Doctor Who, I'd like to see it repeated though so I could get a feel for it. They show it on UK Gold sometimes. Some episodes or parts of episodes are missing for the first two doctors unfortunately.
January 4, 200718 yr No. What is it exactly? My brother has it on DVD (HHH). Not that I've watched it yet. But still jealous!
January 5, 200718 yr Well I haven't seen classic Doctor Who, I'd like to see it repeated though so I could get a feel for it. I was looking at the boxsets for the new series and series 1 is £51.99 - for 13 episodes?? Entire boxets of Buffy are £15.99 at the minute. So hmmm that annoyed me. Even not seeing it I respect that original fans might have issues with the changes. I don't think the comedy moments always work in it, sometimes they do when appropriate...I like Torchwood but I think sometimes it's gone too dark which takes the escapism away from it, if it was the same as the better episodes of series 1 I'd deffinitely prefer it. I liked all of Christopher series and I do like David Tennant (Billie's better for me tho) but some episodes of series 2 were just bad. Mark's episode was a highlight! That's BBC for you though, rip-off DVD prices.... <_< The 'jokey' factor has only really come to the fore with David Tenant, if you look at the Eccleston series, really not many jokes, and his interpretation was much more serious and darker; when Eccleston got angry it felt utterly genuine, when Tenant does it, it just seems like he's just having a bit of a girly strop.. And his silly little shrieks..... Oh dear, I fear sometimes a poor dog or cat sitting in front of the TV is gonna go nuts.... And I've yet to see anything from either later Dr Who or Torchwood to match the "Empty Child" two-parter from DW series one....
January 5, 200718 yr £51 for season one????? thats extuationat. their are many older doctor who dvds that you can by and evry sat and sun they show pertwee episodes on ukgold grimly: terry nation????? isnt he dead??? anyway, hes scripts wernt the best. have you seen "The Daleks"???? its so paded out to make it 7 epodes long!! thenm again, he did write "Genesis of the daleks" so that sort of makes up for it. personnaly they should get Eric Saward back as a script editor, he was the script editor from Castrovalva (Peter Davisons first ep in 1982) till Trial Of A Time Lord (Colins last ep in 86) he also wrote a few classics such as Earthshock, Resurrection of the Daleks and Attack of the Cybermen. as for producer, id like to phillip hichcliff back. Just look at some of the classics he produced: The Ark in Space The Sontaran Experiment Genesis of the Daleks Revenge of the Cybermen Terror of the Zygons Pyramids of Mars The Brain of Morbius The Seeds of Doom The Hand of Fear The Robots of Death The Talons of Weng-Chiang they were the most memerable episodes of doctor whos career, and arguably some of the best i personaly dont mind tennant as the doctor. hes very fun. but i really couldnt stand chris ecclestone. he had no identity and he wased a whole regeneration.

You could be right on Terry Nation... I just said him, but really ANY of the old Dr Who scripters would be an improvement on Davis, his obsession with keeping the TARDIS earthbound (or should I say Londonbound...?) is just totally hacking me off, it's a bloody machine that can go ANYWHERE (and at any TIME) IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!! The guy who wrote the "Empty Child" two-parter would be a good choice for regular as well, excellent story, best story of the whole two series so far.... I totally disagree with you on Eccleston, of course he had an identity.... Tenant is a shrieking buffoon, an annoying, camp little man who has turned Dr Who into a joke. I used to think Billie Piper was the problem, but I can see now that she wasn't - it was that annoying little tw@t all along. <_< People slag off Sylvester McCoy, I don't, I thought he was okay, but you can tell that Tenant is merely trying to ape his style, and doing it BADLY; you could bring him back to do a "Two Doctors" thing, he'd act Tenant off the bloody screen....!
January 5, 200718 yr yeah. i loved sylvester, he was awsome! the doctor said the reason they cant go hardly amywahere apart from earth is as the time lords are all dead. thats just an excuse so russel doesent have to think up new planets and and stuff. but next series theyll be at least 4 journeys to other planets!!
