I'm loving the BBC2 repeats of this brilliant drama... and I'm really looking forward to the reunion this Christmas, too....

Further information I picked up from somewhere else:

The friends reunite for Ferdy's funeral. One of them is now a succesful author who has written about the groups time together. A TV crew is also interested in finding out about the friends.

Yep, it is a prefect snapshot in time of the mid 90s and I love it to bits. I bought the DVD boxset a few months ago, and enjoyed re-watching very much.

The ending was just perfect, with Warren saying the same word as he opened the first series with - Outstandin'!

It was the cult TV show that defined the spirit of the Nineties - a group of young lawyers working hard and playing harder in the cut and thrust of London.

Now This Life is to return, 10 years on, with all the original cast.

The BBC will today confirm that Jack Davenport, Daniela Nardini, Jason Hughes, Andrew Lincoln and Amita Dhiri have all agreed to reprise their roles as Miles, Anna, Warren, Egg and Milly.

Filming begins across London and in Sussex next week for a 90-minute special to be screened on BBC2 this winter.

Amy Jenkins, who created the series, and executive producer Tony Garnett are also on board.

A BBC insider said: "Rest assured the characters won't have settled down to lives with their feet up in front of the TV drinking cocoa.

"They are now in their thirties, but their lives are never straightforward. They might be more mature and learned a few lessons, but they are just as sexy and bitchy and confused about life.

"And there will be a few surprises." The sexually-explicit series was one of the most controversial programmes to be screened by the BBC.

With a soundtrack of Britpop - from a then unknown music consultant called Ricky Gervais - it was condemned for showing "simulated sex between homosexuals" three years before Queer As Folk caused a similar furore.

One of the original characters, Welsh lawyer Warren, left to go travelling, and was replaced in the second series by his gay lover Ferdy - Ramon Tikaram, who will not be coming back.

The new drama, This Life - Ten Years On, sees one of the group a success after writing a book about their turbulent friendship.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "Viewers will discover whether they are friends, lovers, enemies - or all three."

Where are they now?

Jack Davenport (Miles Stewart)

Has found success in Hollywood, starring in The Talented Mr Ripley and the Pirates Of The Caribbean films.

Daniela Nardini (Anna Forbes)

Has flitted between theatre, TV and film, with stage roles including the lead in Camille, TV ranging from Big Women to Sirens and the Baftanominated film, Festival.

Amita Dhiri (Milly Nassim)

Has starred in TV hits such as Judge John Deed, Silent Witness and McCallum.

Andrew Lincoln (Edgar 'Egg' Cook)

Played Simon Casey in hit Channel 4 drama Teachers. Film roles include lovelorn Mark in Love Actually.

Jason Hughes (Warren Jones)

Starred in 2002 movie thriller Killing Me Softly and as Detective Ben Jones in Midsomer Murders.

Ramon Tikaram (Ferdy Garcia)

Various TV guest appearances, including Murphy's Law. Has just played the title role in the opera Gaddafi: A Living Myth at the Coliseum.

This on BBC2 on 2nd January 2007. Any fans (like me!!) or comments?

Well I had to read through your descriptions to work out who that was, but yes, the one from Love Actually :P

i might give this a watch :o, people always recommend :D
Amazing. I just felt a little sad, it was good getting to know the characters again but it was sad that that's all there is of it.

You slightly missed out his starring role in excellent ITV paranormal drama "Afterlife" mate....

I lived round the corner from Andrew Lincoln when he filmed Teachers in Bristol. He's even scrummier in real life. Short, though... you wouldn't know whether to snog him or stick a pin in him and put him on your lapel....

I thought the return to This Life was majorly disappointing... the whole set-up, the country house, video crews... it was too far-fetched for a show that prided itself of representing how REAL people live.

Wonderful performances all round... but it wasn't the This Life I know and love.

I have to say, I felt the same way.. What was edgy, cutting-edge drama in the 90s was turned into something a bit too comfortable and rather complacent to be honest.. Even the arguments seemed a bit too staged and rather silly.. I objected to the whole "Big Brother Diary Room" element as well, it seemed a very lame replacement for the psychiatrist from the original show, and the ending with the bailiffs and Miles just suddenly deciding to go to Timbuktu(!!) just seemed tacked on, like they couldn't really come up with anything better.

And what about Miles' FIRST WIFE, you know, the blonde, older woman he married at the end of series two...?? All of a sudden he gets a Vietnamese Mail Order bride and no one even mentions the other woman... No one mentions Joe or Kira either (odd when you consider Kira was Warren's cousin..). Sure, they may have been supporting characters, but they were still important... At least Ferdy gets mentioned, even if it was only to kill him off...

It all just seemed a bit too contrived for my liking, and I just didn't love it as much as I should have... Good acting from all concerned, but all in all a disappointment...
