gooddelta, you’ve inspired me to go and make a The Corrs playlist for my Spotify.

Sadly, the only song missing that I wanted to include was Lifting Me. Though I do have that on my iTunes.

I don’t remember the Dannii song being a hit, but I could be wrong,

Oh I think I have that edition of In Blue!

Just checked and it got to No.20 apparently, so probably an easy hit to miss.

Oh yes, Lifting Me - wasn't that only available on some versions of The Best Of? It wasn't part of the UK version. Pretty much all of their b-sides are missing from Spotify too, so I have to constantly listen to them through YouTube until I can find all my CD singles again.

'Sick and Tired' is a good one from Anastacia. Remember that being a good one from that album!

It was fab! I even preferred it to Left Outside Alone!

Ah that’s why I forgot it! Haha

Yeah Lifting Me was part of the Australian edition. I have to of their b-sides on cd. Remember and Rainy Day. Love them both.

Those are my exact two favourites, I can’t believe neither made it onto an album!

I don’t think I have Rainy Day anywhere on CD but do have Remember…somewhere.

Rainy Day was on the Australian Tour Edition of Forgiven Npt Forgotten. I found it fairly cheap on eBay a few years ago.

Sounds like a great release!

1/23: Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden - Almost Here (1 week at No.1)

2005 was another transitional year for me, as I left college and headed to university. My tastes were slightly more mainstream than previous years too, I suppose becuase I was working a lot of hours in Asda at the weekends and in the summer and all of the hits were played on Asda FM a lot. Anyway, Extraordinary Day's epic run at the top continued into early 2005 and was finally seen off by...Delta's fourth No.1 in a row, but her only chart topper of 2005.

Almost Here was selected as the second single from Mistaken Identity in the UK - hardly a surprising choice as Brian McFadden was hot property at the time. A ballad with the verses sung by Brian and the chorus sung by Delta until they joint together at the end, it's actually a very good ballad (although far from my favourite on the album), and matched Born To Try's UK peak of No.3 - a career best while also restoring her to the top in Australia. Still, the meeting of these two completely derailed Delta's UK career as the media portrayed her as a homewrecker, which clearly wasn't true but I can see why she ducked out at that point. She will of course be back as I continued to admire her career from afar.

2/23: The Corrs - Confidence For Quiet (1 week at No.1)

Every now and then we get the odd filler No.1 in quiet periods, and early 2005 was very definitely a quiet period for my chart. Winning a chart battle with Atomic Kitten's Cradle (a song originally from 2000 that was finally issued as a single five years later) was Borrowed Heaven album track Confidence For Quiet by The Corrs. A good song for sure, but why exactly it came to top my chart nine months after the album was released I really can't recall. It dropped all the way from No.1 to No.10 the following week, not far off the record held by Gigi D'Agostino's Bla Bla Bla, which went 1-12.

3/23: KT Tunstall - Other Side Of The World (1 week at No.1)

My first big discovery of 2005 was the wonderful Scottish singer KT Tunstall. I believe she came to prominence via a Jools Holland performance of Black Horse & The Cherry Tree. I liked that enough to check out the album and instantly fell in love. Black Horse was a highlight but the album was packed with so many absolute gems, that you can't believe it took years for this woman's career to take off.

My instant favourite was the single at the time, the ballad Other Side Of The World. Gorgeous vocals, great instrumentation, an absolutely wonderful middle eight and a classic 00s chorus - it peaked at No.13 in the UK and had a decent run in the top 75 but I think it's better remembered than its chart run suggests, I still hear it around a lot to this day and obviously it helped to make the album into a huge success.

'Almost Here' is the standout of Brian's singles for me obviously aided by Delta.

Yeah I agree with that, I didn't like any of the others at all

Irish Son was ok I guess.

4/23: Charlotte Hatherley - bastardo (1 week at No.1)

A rare guitar song makes an appearance as Ash's Charlotte Hatherley went solo and produced the masterpiece bastardo. I was immediately struck by the lyrics and witty storytelling in this song, as well as the fun middle eight/guitar solo and wonderful comic book strip video (featuring David Walliams, Julia Davies, Lucy Davies, Lauren Laverne, Alice Lowe and Simon Pegg) which I loved so much I bought the DVD single as well as the CD single. This only peaked at No.31 in the UK and rarely has there been such a chart injustice.

Loved Almost Here back in the 2004/5, really up until around 2011. It was really until I started going off Brian McFadden. Is there a solo version out there? With just Delta?

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I need to revisit Borrowed Heaven, perhaps later this week. :)

She does perform it solo these days, but there's not a solo studio version sadly, and there really should be.

Maybe they need to get Borrowed Heaven on as one of the album listenthroughs!

Thanks, hopefully we’ll get a studio version one day soon.

Love Eye To The Telescope and Other Side Of The World is my favourite from it. I got slightly tired of Suddenly I See due to the radio overplay but will never tire of that.
