February 4, 20232 yr Very much looking forward to this! It's been a while since I've seen a good chunk of skiing so will be nice to dive back into it.
February 8, 20232 yr A decent start to proceedings with the Women's super-G today! A fab run for Bassino (the negative splits made the rest of the race a bit less predictable!) and good to see Kajsa Vickhoff Lie get on the popdium as one of the slight outsiders.
February 9, 20232 yr A thrilling Men's Super G today - when the favourite Odermatt skied into the top spot I thought 'well this is over' - and then the next three riders all beat the fastest time! Congrats to Crawford on the win, definitely not someone people had on their 'big' favourites list.
February 13, 20232 yr Another surprise winner in the Women's Downhill with Jasmine Flury from bib 2! In fact both her and runner-up Nina Ortlieb were outside the Top 10 skiiers in the line-up on paper. Really happy for her!
February 16, 20232 yr Shiffrin takes the gold in the Giant Slalom - congrats to her, another to add to a stunning career! A shame to see Tessa Worley crash out on the second run after being second in the first though, would've been nice to see a home favourite take a medal.
February 18, 20232 yr Author An upset in the women's slalom with Laurence St Germain pipping Shiffrin for the gold. Never been on a podium for a World Cup race. Great championships for the Canadians though!!
February 19, 20232 yr Author Gold for Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway in the final event at the mens slalom. And silver for Aj Ginnis of Greece which is Greece's first ever winter sports medal, I think. Alex Vinatzer completed the podium for Italy. Dave Ryding finished 13th for Great Britain.
February 19, 20232 yr Author Great men's slalom. The top 20 were separated by just over a second after the first run. Kristofferson made up 16 places I believe to win gold. Manuel Feller messed up his second run to slip from 1st to 7th which means no gold for Austria for the first time since 1987 - expect recriminations.
February 20, 20232 yr A real tale of the underdogs in the Women's Slalom! I wonder who would have put money on Laurence St-Germain taking gold in the Slalom from Bib 18? Really happy for her. The real star of the show has to be Lara Della Mea though, scraping into the Top 30 from Bib 35 (amazed at how many outside the Top 30 crept into it given all of the Top 30 finished!) and then putting down the fastest run of everyone in the second run to finish inside the Top 10!
February 21, 20232 yr And agreed that the Men's Slalom was fantastic - Kristofferson being the only person within the seeded riders to end up in the Top 5, and that was with finishing his first run in 16th! Fab to see AJ Ginnis get Greece on the medal table as well.
