01 Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

peaked at #1

'Chasing Cars' is the second single to be taken from Snow Patrol's platinum album 'Eyes Open'. Following the success of first single 'You're All I Have' and it's immediate cementing as huge live favourite, the release of 'Chasing Cars' is eagerly anticipated and is shaping up to deliver the band their biggest song yet. First previewed during the bands tour with U2 in summer 2005, 'Chasing Cars' is Snow Patrol at their emotional best; a hook laden epic ballad that builds from a simple keyboard/ vocal refrain into a widescreen, guitar fuelled, string drenched, indie/ rock track that is irresistible from start to finish. - HMV

Interesting chart...odd to see many songs that didn't make No.1 in your chart so high...have they grown on you over the year a lot?

Interesting chart...odd to see many songs that didn't make No.1 in your chart so high...have they grown on you over the year a lot?

Take Meck for example, I heard it on the radio yesterday, and it just reminded me how good the track was at the time, Pet Shop Boys were at #40, but changed it at the last minute after yesterday  and Sewn by the Feeling, stood out from their other singles, as it lingered longer than any of their other tracks in my chart, and playing albums like The Kooks and the Chilis, just reminds me of some of the great records were around at the time.

Cool!!! I've started to rundown my top 40 which is based on how much I like the song now...I was going to base it on points but that way Nelly Furtado's All Good Things would have ended up in my top 15 of the year and that is unrealistc so it is based purely on how I favour songs over others :-)
Yey :cheer: im glad Shakira is in your top 10, really tired of your no.1 though although i did like it at the time, good to see the Feeling around i got their album for crimbo :kink: also Nelly Furtado top 10, great chart!

I did not wanted to base it on points, I just mainly based it on my taste of music, like Gnarls Barkley still a great record but I would not class it in my top 10 of the year.

Very good chart Mikey, a really varied top 10, I am doing my top 100 hundred soon, it's going to be done with plays to make it my chart of what I have listened to most this year, so I am listening to loads of old songs now to boost them up the chart

Nearly had the same Top 2, I found Sewn better than I Don't Feel Like Dancin, as I remembered Sewn got stuck at #2 for at least 4 weeks  just missed out on a #1 hit.

Thanks for replying Matt.

Good list, Mikey. All good songs and I also like seeing Amy Winehouse on your list. I guess Snow Patrol is a fair number one.
