Longest Title:

The Face's / Rod Stewart's 1974 no. 12 hit "You Can Make Me Dance Sing Or Anything (Even Take The Dog For A Walk, Mend A Fuse, Fold Away The Ironing Board, Or Any Other Domestic Shortcomings)" has 115 letters (punctuation marks don't count!). The longest un-bracketed title is Meat Loaf's "Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are" (52 letters). It made no. 26 in May 1994.

The Freshies' 1981 release "I'm In Love With The Girl On A Certain Manchester Megastore Checkout Desk" (60 letters) peaked at number 54!

In the mid 60s Shirley Ellis's follow-up to her hit single The Clapping Song (it flopped in the UK but was a big US hit). Title was this:

EVER SEEN A DIVER KISS HIS WIFE WHILE THE BUBBLES BOUNCE ABOUT ABOVE THE WATER.

(65 letters)

Can anyone beat this?

but did you know this without looking it up?

Other cool long single titles are Theaudience's "If You Can't Do It When You're Young, When Can You Do It?" and "I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer" by the Cardigans.

The longest album title (as we've already done the singles) I can think of is Fiona Apple's sophomore release.

When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King/What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight/And He'll Win the Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters the Ring/There's No Body To Batter When Your Mind is Your Might/So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand/And Remember That Depth is the Greatest of Heights/And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land/And If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right.
