February 16, 20232 yr Well in that case, my list is a load of b*ll*cks as I just went off the OCC website No, yours are the *official* #1s ;)
February 16, 20232 yr Well in that case, my list is a load of b*ll*cks as I just went off the OCC website No, you are not wrong but neither am I. I don't mean to be controversial but my system works since chart time began, whereas the chart authorities have changed the dates for the charts more than once, most recently in July 2015 when the week-ending moved from a Saturday to a Thursday - and then they add 7 days... I know that I am massively outnumbered!
February 16, 20232 yr Author Well nobody agrees with me that ACR and the three track rule should be completely abolished, so we all have our controversial opinions :)
February 16, 20232 yr No, you are not wrong but neither am I. I don't mean to be controversial but my system works since chart time began, whereas the chart authorities have changed the dates for the charts more than once, most recently in July 2015 when the week-ending moved from a Saturday to a Thursday - and then they add 7 days... I know that I am massively outnumbered! If you're presenting a list based on your own alternative definition without specifying that then sorry but you are wrong :kink: As I said the definition of a Christmas #1 is that it's whatever is #1 if you looked up the current chart on Christmas Day, that is a consistent definition (maybe some retconning to account for publishing delays aside) and I don't see why the change of chart date would invalidate that any more than it does your definition which I assume also switches from Sunday-Saturday to Friday-Thursday in 2015? (And the 7 days 'added' are because it is a week ending date, the actual OCC website lists both the week beginning and ending dates i.e. listing the current chart as the one for 10-16 February). I do understand the value in your alternative definition but I think you need to make it more clear that it is an alternative! (edit: which to be fair you did when you were posting about Christmas #1s, but no such disclaimer in your post in this thread)
February 16, 20232 yr Although the dates don't correspond to when sales are taken they do reflect what the known number one is. For example Miley cyrus was revealed on Friday as the no.1, but as of today no one knows this week's no 1 till Friday so the known No1 is still miley Cyrus.
February 16, 20232 yr Yes, otherwise the answer to “what is the current Number 1” would always be “I don’t know”. :)
February 17, 20232 yr OK. I won't post anything more where the dates cause controversy, my apologies to all.
