Chelsea are p*** poor at the moment. Cech and Terry are sorely missed - 2 goals conceded 3 games in a row without them is certainly not Championship form... ALL of their signings are poor as well. Ballack has been far worse than Shevchenko but gets far less blame becaus as a midfielder he can play worse and Shevchenko's been outclassed by Drogba. Cashley is nowhere near the player he was at Arsenal and everytime Mikel and Boularouz play they look like they'd struggle to get into a Championship side. Lampard is useless, I really think that recently Steven Gerrard has shown he's a much better midfielder than Lampard is. Essien and Drogba (and to some extent Carvalho) are really carrying the team.

And before any Chelsea fans say that they;re not first choice players playing so we';re bound to drop points Man Utd started today without SIX of their normal starting 11 yet managed to convincingly beat the team Chelsea only luckily beat 3 days ago

I think this is yet ANOTHER wake up call to the people saying Chelsea have 'won the League'. Chelsea barely deserve 3 points from their last 3 matches nevermind 7 points.

He's just generally awful. He's never put in what you'd call a decent performance. The only thing positive I could say about him is that his transfer fee wasn't too high...

At least with Ballack you only need to change two letters in his surname to describe his performances - he is too slow for the Premiership and not a good tackler.

I feel sorry for Shevchencko, Chelsea are not playing towards his strengths. Today there were nearly half a dozen occasions when he got rid of his marker only for Lampard, Ballack or Drogba to shoot at goal instead of taking the better option and putting the ball through to him.

Any striker who can score goals for fun in the most defensive League (Italy's Serie A) in the world is not a bad forward.

Still I'm miffed with Liverpool losing today.

Thats exactly right.

At the moment Drogba and Essien are keeping Chelsea in the title race and Drogba is totally out classing Sheva who has been very poor in the Premiership so far.

Lampard is one of the most over-rated players I have ever come across as well. Hopefully McLaren will now have the brains to drop Lampard and play Gerrard in the centre instead of Lampard and then have a proper right winger playing instead if a make shift one.

England have had players in make shift positions for the last 5 feckin years :(

if Wright-Phillips bails out of Chelsky in January he could give Lennon a run for his money

True.

We haven't had a proper winger for years and even though Joe Cole does a decent job in the role he isn't an out and out left winger.

Without Drogba Chelsea would probably not even be second right now :o

As for England he may not be playing much right now but we do have a good player for right midfield that can CROSS  Saying that though Wright Phillips did a decent one for Drogba's second tonight. :D For the left though we have Downing but he hasn't done that well really but Richardson maybe could get another run in if he plays a bit more for us.

As long as Abramovich keeps his grubby mits away from Defoe...

Defoe has to be the best striker in the country right now :cheer: 12 goals in the last 12 games he has started and 12 in 16 if you include coming on as a sub :cheer:

Gareth Barry should be playing left-wing for England, no question. And on current form, it should be Baines playing behind him. But neither are big players and neither play for big or fasionable teams so unless there's huge amounts of media pressure neither has the slightest chance...

Barry is good but he hasn't got the pace for international level to play on the left, makes Beckham seem like Lennon pace wise, anyways he is more of an LB so if he was going to play he best at LB

Edited by Kimi Raikkonen

But he's still better than Downing who is our only other alternative whilst Cole is injured!

I would give Lennon a go on the left tbh when he is fit, he played there couple of times for us this season and was brilliant

I agree about Downing, Jol is after him :(

Lennon is a right sided midfielder though. I know they may have had success with Lennon on the left before but I think if he were to be used at all, he should be used on the right of midfield were he plays best and not playing on the left were he would be out of position.

Downing is a good player on his day but he's just a bit inconcistant. Barry is better than him on current form but I just don't think that Barry has enough to step up to the international level personally, but still I think it would be good to try him out in a friendly match and just see whether he could make the grade.

Cole is not a natural LM either though, when he was at West Ham he was a CM or playing just behind the front 2 but then Mourinho saw he could do it on the left but his preferred position is AMC, Lennon prefers the right but were there a choice of Lennon on the left or Downing I would choose Lennon every time and put SWP on the right ^_^
