March 8, 20232 yr Kinda love this. It’s much more relaxed and carefree but I’m loving the subtle way of introducing retro style production flourishes. This will be a huge grower, I can feel it. Some of the lyrics are a little too close to a parody of Facebook self help posts but I guess we can’t have everything.
June 1, 20231 yr Since this one got only one reply so far I don’t think it would be enough to create a new topic — but the new single ‘The Universe’ is so, so good! Very melodic and rich in sound.
August 31, 20231 yr Author Her new album will still be released by label Ninja Tune on September 8th, but they’ve confirmed that they will not be “promoting and marketing” the album following controversy surrounding her comments on puberty blockers.

September 8, 20231 yr The Guardian sum it up perfectly for me: "A masterful album with an ugly stain" https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/sep/...t-parade-review If we ignore the current controversy around her, I'd probably say this is her best album to date. Musically it's really playful and again she manages to make something that doesn't sound like a copy of any of her previous material, DJ Koze does an amazing job on production. Under normal circumstances I can see that this would be an album I would play to death but lyrically there are quite a few quotes that sit a little uneasily after her comments... Hurts So Bad opens with "Did I ever disappoint you, did I disappoint you? Did I get it wrong?"... You Knew has "What you expect me to toe the line for? Extra! Read all about it" whilst Eureka's lyrics are basically all relating to surgeons, doctors, cures etc - there's even an intro to one of the tracks where she says "I'm a... woman" which now feels potentially aggressive when it really shouldn't ugh! :( Obviously none of them are really about anything to do with what has happened but it makes it difficult to listen to without relating to the controversy. It is definitely a strong body of work though, musically and aesthetically.
