March 14, 20232 yr Aqua leading be so much is a little surprising. I’m guessing that’s where the Spice Girls votes went.
March 15, 20232 yr Chumbawamba got a bigger hit in the US than the Britpop / indie bands who had been trying to crack America for years - even Wonderwall only got to #8 there. (Today I learned The Shock Of The Lightning gave Oasis their third Billboard Hot 100 hit :o Don't Look Back In Anger was their other one.) TIL that Shock Of The Lightning charted on the Billboard top 100 as well. :o I could have sworn it was only Wonderwall & DLBIA. Interesting further point on this note, apparently they had four songs (Live Forever, Champagne Supernova, D'You Know What I Mean & Don't Go Away) make the top 50 of the US Airplay Chart but were ineligible to chart on the Hot 100 due to rules about needing a physical release at the time which none of these were apparently given in the US.)
