Always felt that the singles from 'Careful What You Wish For' were awful there were much better songs that could have represented the album such as 'Where Did You Sleep' which SHOULD have been the lead single & 'Under Your Skin', 'Place In My World' & the title track, they were the best on there.

Liking After All, definitely feels like an attempt to recreate the White On Blonde sound (the album cover with the 1997 logo coming back suggests this also).

I've just noticed that all their Mercury Records catalogue changed ownership to PIAS earlier this year. Maybe that's what prompted the release of another hits collection.

They never seem to do any of CWYWF or Red Book tracks when they tour either, I've been to all their last tours and Sleep was only done on one of them if I remember rightly. Is it something with the labels or not having a rights maybe? Something similar to Sophie EB not being able to do as many SFTH tracks.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the rights stuff should make any difference to what they can perform live, just what they are able to release.

It's a shame as I enjoyed both albums - they were notably poppier than what came before and after though so maybe on reflection they didn't feel either album was very them. In the last few years they've definitely circled back to their White On Blonde sound. I know Carnival Girl is derided, as much as I like it myself, but Getaway and Can't Resist were quite highly regarded at the time I thought.

It's a shame really, Red Book is really quite a strong album all in all, think it was ahead of its time. Probably shouldn't have released 'Can't Resist' second, although I personally think it's one of the best on the album. CWYWF I'm not so struck on, there's a couple of stand outs but more of a miss for me.
