What’s the benefit of pre-adding her album to Spotify or Apple Music instead of encouraging her fans to purchase a physical copy for a chance to win? It doesn’t make much sense except for playlisting one song.

Doesn’t pre-adds help with streaming platforms algorithms - when they can see there is a demand for it from people who also listen to X & Y artist they will put it in front of others that listen to them also, or add certain songs to relevant playlists?

I suppose, but I thought she’d be focusing on sales or downloads for a prize, not streaming, but there was another competition to win her Eurovision outfit  Her album launch at G-A-Y on 16/09 is only £5 on the door so no album purchase required for that either.

I was thinking of where she’s going to get her sales from aside from her official store tbh. I get sponsored ads but it remains to be seen whether that is effective.

She’s announced 5 signings/album launch shows, I feel like they are going to have to really go for it though to get sales up and I’m expecting some price drops in release week.

Yes my post was before that so I’m glad she announced some. They seem to be 300-400 capacity so they need to add a ton of other promo or discounts during release week.

Maybe she will surprise us all with 20K+ sales

What sort of poor management does she have that they couldn't move the signings by 2 weeks. How can it even be advertised as an "album singing" 2 weeks before the album is out?!

Tom Odell did this and his album wasn't even (publicly) delayed. Still played a Rough Trade show and met everyone after, just signed an photo card instead and the albums were shipped out to us. Sales still count so the label won't care.

^^ This, it happens a lot - I’m going to a Holly Humberstone signing before the album is out, they give an artcard at the signing and the album gets shipped on release.

It’s actually a good way of getting in more signings.

It wouldn't altogether surprise me if the release of this album ends up being cancelled.

I hope not seeing as the release is so close - but it does happen (I remember HRVY’s album getting totally scrapped just before release).

I can certainly see her exiting her label after the album though, I can’t see it achieving anywhere near what they would want for an artist like Mae and further hits don’t appear to be incoming at the moment :nocheer:

It won’t be cancelled she spent at least 10 minutes signing vinyls the other day
She’s doing an interview on Monday with my uni student magazine, her PR agent told us to focus on the album more than Eurovision - so it’s certainly not looking likely to be cancelled!

I want it to debut reasonably well for Eurovision. Alright she was absolutely terrible and the marketing could be better but her tour was already cancelled now if her album does badly and then she’s dropped it isn’t going to encourage others to consider it.

PSA to pre-order her album 💿 (no I haven’t)

It got a 2/5 review in Retropop magazine so I’m not expecting great things. Apparently some good stuff on there, towards the start in particular, but feels too long and less of a cohesive album and more just a bunch of songs.

I was going to buy it as I bought her EP in 2020 and liked that but will probably stream it first.

I haven’t pre-ordered because I am hoping for a price cut on release week :kink:

Same! Also it all feels a bit expensive? It’s certainly not priced to attract casual sales and build on her ESC exposure - the signed vinyl is £29.99 and the cassettes are £9.99, I feel with Mae they should be lowering them especially the cassettes that even Kylie is knocking out for £7

What a rip-off £9.99 for a cassette or £25 for all 3?? They need to speak to Dua, Olivia or Billie’s supplier!!!

There should be a CD and Cassette bundle for £14.99.

Amelia Lily and HRVY did the same thing and both albums were cancelled before release. Hopefully the same thing won’t happen Mae.

Extra singing added at Banquet which is a plus - it shows there is some interest, I think the in stores are usually only for around 100 people though so low numbers but better than nothing!
