2002- Jurgen Vries- The Theme

'The Theme' was from Britsh record producer Jurgen Vries whose real name is Darren Tate. This went on to peak at #12 in the UK. Not one that I can remember when this came out, but having discovered this, this is absolute prefection from him.

2006- Muse- Starlight

'Starlight' was the second single Muse's fourth studio album 'Black Holes and Revelations'. This would go on and peak at #13 in the UK. This is one that I haven't heard for a while, this is all right from Muse. One review on NME said this about 'Starlight':

but deep down this is a tune so chart-hungry it’s virtually dry-humping JK And Joel’s legs.

That's harsh.

2009- David Guetta ft Kelly Rowland- When Love Takes Over

'When Love Takes Over' was the lead single from David Guetta's fourth studio album 'One Love' this would feature Kelly Rowland. This would go on and become David Guetta's first UK #1 and Kelly Rowland's second UK #1. This was probably one of the first to have the fake version with Airi L which would go on and peak at #22 in the UK. The original would also chart in the US by peaking at #76 in the Billboard Hot 100. This is such a fantastic song from David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. I also remember it for a certain trailer for the return of Big Brother on Channel 5 back in 2011.

2004- Joss Stone- You Had Me

'You Had Me' was the lead single from Joss Stone's second studio album 'Mind Body & Soul'. This went on to peak at #9 in the UK which was her highest-peaking single to date. One that I rarely hear nowadays on the radio, I think when this came out, my class ssemmed to be obseesssed with this song and probably thought that this song was going to be the second coming, I thought it was all right when it came out albeit not the best song ever, nor the wrong song ever. I was in the middle with this song.

2005- Status Quo- The Party Ain't Over Yet

'The Party Ain't Over Yet' was the lead single from Status Quo's twenty-seventh studio album of the same name. This went on to peak at #11 in the UK, can't say that I remember this from Status Quo, it was probably one that my Dad would enjoy listen to. Hearing it is OK from Status Quo. This was a cover from an American country singer Patty Loveless.

2008- Kid Rock- All Summer Long

'All Summer Long' was the third single from Kid Rock's seventh studio album 'Rock n Roll Jesus'. This would go on and become Kid Rock's biggest ever hit by peaking at #1 in the UK where it would stay for one week before being knocked off the #1 spot by Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl'. This would contain an sample of Lynyrd Skynyrd 'Sweet Home Alabama'. Probably in the very minority on here but I was a fan of this when came out during the summer of 2008, what a summer that was. It is a song that I would still listen on a summer playlist. In the US this would peak at #23 in the Billboard Hot 100. I think the sample of 'Sweet Home Alabama' works very well on this.

2003- Muse- Time Is Running Out

'Time Is Running Out' was the second single from Muse's third studio album 'Absolution'. This would go on and peak at #8 in the UK becoming their 1st UK Top 10 hit at the time. This isn't one that I remember when this came out, sorry. But in recent years, I have grown to like this song from Muse. In the recent Buzzjack's Favourite Group rate, Muse would just sneak into my Top 30 by coming 30th and getting that one point.

2008- McFly- Lies

'Lies' was the second single from McFly's fourth studio album 'Radio:ACTIVE'. This would go on and peak at #4 in the UK, and would of course go on and have what had become the norm, the traditional McFly drop after it reached its peak, this time by thirteen places. This is one I honestly say I haven't heard for a long time. I thought this was all right from them, probably not quite up there from their previous single 'One For The Radio'. The music video for this seems to have some sort of a Mad Max ode to it.

2009- Nneka- Heartbeat

'Heartbeat' was from Nigerian singer Nneka. This would go on and peak at #20 in the UK, this would be remixed by Chase & Status, and the remix of the song would be sampled by Rita Ora on her debut single 'R.I.P'

2002- Atomic Kitten- The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)

'The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling) was the second single from Atomic Kitten's second studio album 'Feels So Good'. This was a cover of The Paragons before being famously covered by Blondie in 1980 and er was even covered by rapper Kardinal Offishall/ Keri Hilson in 2008 which was interesting. This would go on and peak at #1 in the UK where it would stay there for three weeks before been knocked off by an double A-side single from Will Young & Gareth Gates. This is all right from Atomic Kitten, the last time I heard this was at my best mate's wedding last November. 'The Tide Is High' was

2005- Mylo vs Miami Sound Pressure- Dr Pressure

'Doctor Pressure' was a mash-up of two songs of 'Dr.Beat' by Miami Sound Pressure and 'Drop The Pressure' from Scottish record producer Mylo. This would go on and peak at #3 in the UK, which would outpeak the original peak of 'Dr Beat' which originally peaked at #6 in the UK in 1984. This again is one that I haven't heard for a while but it still sounds great, the mash-up works very well. It was thanks to Now 62, for the rediscovery of this tune.

2007- Foo Fighters- The Pretender

'The Pretender' was the first single from Foo Fighters' sixth studio album 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace'. This would go on and peak at #8 in the UK, in the US this would peak at #37 in the Billboard Hot 100. This is such a fantastic song from the Foo Fighters, probably my favourite song that the Foo Fighters did. What a tune this is from them. This would probably make an fantastic walk-on music for someone in sport.

2003- Elton John- Are You Ready For Love?

'Are You Ready for Love' was an re-release for Elton John which was remixed by Ashley Beedle. Originally this was released in 1979 where it peaked at #42 in the UK. Twenty-four years later this would go on and peak at #1 in the UK becoming Elton John's 6th UK #1 it would stay there for one week before being knocked off by Black Eyed Peas' 'Where Is The Love?'. I can remember being everywhere on the radio during the summer of 2003 this was a great remixed version from Elton John.

2003- S Club 8- Sundown

'Sundown' was the second single from S Club 8's second album of the same name. This would go on and peak at #4 in the UK. This is one that I vaguely remember as when this came out, most people in my year at school were obsessed with S Club 8, I think this was even an lesson dedicated to S Club 8 at one point....

2004- Lucie Silvas- What You're Made Of

'What You're Made Of' was the debut single for Lucie Silva from her debut album 'Breathe In'. This would go on and peak at #7 in the UK. Lucie Silva would go on and have another UK Top 10 hit the following year where 'Breathe In' peaked at #6. This from Lucie Silva, is one that I can't say that I particularly remember when this came out, but this sounds all right from her and is very underrated in my view.

2000- U2- Beautiful Day

'Beautiful Day' was the lead single from U2's tenth studio album 'All That You Can't Leave Behind'. This would go on and peak at #1 in the UK becoming U2's 4th UK #1. This in my view was probably one of the best songs that U2 did. I particularly remember this song for being the theme tune to ITV's 'The Premiership' which was shown from 2001 to 2004.

The Premiership Intro

2004- Eric Prydz- Call On Me

'Call On Me' was from Swedish DJ Eric Prydz. This would go on and peak at #1 in the UK whwere it would stay for five non-consecutive weeks. This would sample Steve Winwood's 'Valerie'. This would come 44th in my Top 100 Songs of the 2000s which I did back in 2015.

2009- The Veronicas- 4Ever

'4Ever' was the second UK single from Australian duo The Veronicas. This was originally released in 2005 in Australia and New Zealand. This would go on and peak at #17 in the UK. This was re-released in the UK following the success of 'Untouched'. This is one that I haven't heard for a while but it sounds good from them. Definitely an welcome addition since I started doing this series.

2003- The Darkness- I Believe In A Thing Called Love

'I Belive in a Thing Called Love' was the third single from The Darkness' debut album 'Permission to Land'. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK. This is one that you either would really like this or hate this. I can remember an particular coach trip at school where this was sung and the bus driver said you sounded 'Like a bunch of drowned cats'. When my class sung this when this came on the radio.

2008- SASH! ft Stunt- Raindrops (Encore Une Fois)

'Raindrops (Encore une fois) was a mashup of German DJ SASH! 1997 single 'Encore une fois' and Stunt's 2006 single 'Raindrops'. This would go on and peak at #9 in the UK where it would stay in that position for two weeks.

2008- The Saturdays- Up

'Up' was the second single from The Saturdays' debut album 'Chasing Lights'. This would go on and peak at #5 in the UK becoming their 2nd straight UK Top 10 hit. This is one that I couldn't tire of listening to particularly when this came out.

Some tunes in that bunch. Sash! being my fave there featuring Stunt (Molly Smitten-Downes). A huge banger that and the Sash! Original!

2002- Gareth Gates- Suspicious Minds

'Suspcious Minds' was part of a double A-side record from Gareth Gates which also featured their cover of The Beatles 'The Long and Winding Road'. 'Suspicious Minds' was a cover of the 1968 song from Mark James which was a year later was famously covered by Elvis Presley. This double A-side would go and become Gareth Gates' third UK #1 of the year where it would remain for two weeks. This version is interesting to say the least although probably not in a good way.

2002- U2- Electrical Storm

'Electrical Storm' was the fourth track on U2's second greatest hits compilation album 'The Best of 1990-2000'. This would go on and peak at #5 in the UK for them. This is one that I don't remember that well when this came out, one also I haven't really listened to until I started doing this series. This sounds all right from U2. It's no 'Beautiful Day' or 'Vertigo' from their best songs that they did in the 2000s.

2009- Alphabeat- The Spell

'The Spell' was the lead single from Alphabeat's second studio album of the same name. This would go on and peak at #20 in the UK. This is one that I remember that I thought was going to do a lot better than its chart peak. Hearing it now, this is a underrated pop tune from them.

2001- Steps- Chain Reaction

'Chain Reaction' was the first single from Steps' first greatest hits album 'Gold: Greatest Hits'. This was a cover of Diana Ross' from 1986. Steps version who was released as a double A-side alongside 'One For Sorrow'. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK for them. As for Diana's version that would peak at #1 in the UK where it would stay there for three weeks. This version from Steps, I do remember from them, this version is all right from Steps.

Original Diana Ross Version

2003- Pink- Trouble

'Trouble' was the lead single from Pink's third studio album 'Try This'. This would go on and peak at #7 in the UK, in the US this would peak at #68 in the Billboard Hot 100. This was even covered two years later by Shakin' Stevens on a double A-side with 'This Ole House', which peaked at #20 in the UK thanks to winning the forgetten ITV show 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'. This is a good song from Pink, thought this peaked higher than it originally did.

Shakin' Stevens Version

2005- Goldfrapp- Number 1

'Number 1' was the second single from Goldfrapp's third studio album 'Supernature'. This would go on and peak at #9 in the UK. This is one that I haven't heard for a while but it still sounds great from Goldfrapp.

2000- Martine McCutcheon- I'm Over You

'I'm Over You' was the lead single from Martine McCutcheon's second studio album 'Wishing'. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK becoming her second highest-charting single behind 'Perfect Moment' which went to #1 the previous year. This is one from Martine McCutcheon, I'm not really familiar with to be honest. This did come eighth in our Year End Survivor Series #91 beating Kanye West/Chris Martin 'Homecoming' and Cheryl/will.i.am's '3 Words'.

2005- Robbie Williams- Tripping

'Tripping' was the lead single from Robbie Williams' sixth studio album 'Intensive Care'. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK. I remember seeing the music video premiere of this on Channel 4. I was gutted about this not going to #1 instead it was pipped by Sugababes 'Push The Button'. The music video is interesting to say the least from Robbie Williams. One that I haven't heard for a while from Robbie but it still sounds great from him.

2009- Biffy Clyro- The Captain

'The Captain' was the third single from Biffy Clyro's fifth studio album 'Only Revolutions'. This wold go on and peak at #17 in the UK, this is one that I haven't heard for a while but it does sound all right from Biffy Clyro. All right it's no 'Many of Horror' or 'Mountains'. The music video seems to be some ode to 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.

Martine McCutcheon's pop career really was a product of its time. It really hasn't aged well, bless.

Pink's Trouble is so underrated. I would say it's among my favourites from her and the video with Jeremy Renner is a knockout!

2000- Tweenies- Number 1

The first song for this week, really did happen it is 'Number 1' the lead single from their debut album 'Friends Forever'. This would go on and peak at #5 in the UK. They would even appear on Top of The Pops, and would have more UK Top 20 hits than X Factor winners Steve Brookstein, Leon Jackson, Sam Bailey, Joe McElderry combined. Well it did happen.

Top of The Pops Performance:

2002- Westlife- Unbreakable

Be warned, this is an unpopular choice. But it is 'Unbreakable' which was the lead single from Westlife's first greatest hits album 'Unbreakable- The Greatest Hits Volume 1'. This would go on and become Westlife's 11th! UK #1 in three years. This is probably one that I would have on the playlist. This was the era where pretty much everything that Westlife would go to #1.

2006- Razorlight- America

'America' was the second single from Razorlight's self-titled second studio album. This would go on and become Razorlight's only UK #1 where it would spend one week at #1. This would come 10th in my Top 100 Songs of the 2000s which I did back in 2015.

Used Lyric From:

'The Weekend' was from English DJ Michael Gray which include uncredited vocals from Shena. This would go on and peak at #7 in the UK. This is an decent dance track from Michael Gray. It could contain a sample from Kerr's 1984 song 'Back at Ya', and this also included an co-writer credit from Oliver Cheatham by using the lyric to 'I can't wait for Saturday to begin', but changing it to "the weekend".

2008- McFly- Do Ya

Children In Need Performance

'Do Ya' was the third single from McFly's third single from their fourth studio album 'Radio:Active'. This was the Children In Need single for that year. This would go on and peak at #18 in the UK becoming McFly's first single at the time to miss the UK Top 10. At the time also was the lowest-charting Children In Need charity single at the time. I'm not sure that McFly would look back at this with much glory. This isn't great from them. This came and thankfully dropped down the charts after 2 weeks.

2009- Westlife- What About Now

Original Version:

'What About Now' was the lead single from Westlife's ninth studio album 'Where We Are', this was a cover from Daughtry's original. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK being denied the #1 spot by Cheryl's debut single 'Fight For This Love', This version from Westlife isn't great, this become an staple as the soundtrack emotionally charged auditions on talent shows such as Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor. The original 'What About Now' would peak at #11 in the UK thanks to Westlife.
