| 09 // Government Hooker // 9.04

Government Hooker from Born This Way is up next, a song that has been gradually building in streams recently but hasn't fully taken off as an album track.. yet! The hard hitting club banger is one of Gaga's favourite songs on the album and was DJ White Shadow's favourite. Gaga's security guard features on the track in the spoken word moments and Gaga teasingly goes back and forth with him throughout the song. The song satirises both the government and "plastic pop stars" in their bids to achieve success. The song was inspired by Marilyn Monroe and other political mistresses.

This would have been FAR better for a scandalous moment than the reductive Judas. Imagine the video!! She coulda made it very shockinf if she wanted.

REPLAY is that girl, I am still heartbroken and in pieces it never got a video because I think you can tell Gaga loves it too, it's one of my top 5 all time Gaga tracks for sure. Ugh, such a moment when she performed it at TCB.

From The Fame Monster, we have So Happy I Could Die. This is a song that I haven't ever really considered to be a massive fan favourite (even though it is a personal one) so its placement here is massively, pleasantly surprising to see. The song is about the fear of addiction. Gaga stated that the song is about that happy place that people can go to when under the influence of alcohol, but it also has sexual connotations within its lyrics too. Gaga performed the song live in her Living Dress at The Monster Ball, transcending above the audience.

I’ve never seen one like that before

Gaga's fear of the sex Monster is out next, making it two in a row for the album. The song was the inspiration for the record as a whole and Gaga has stated it was one of the first conceived for the album. It references Just Dance and the music video for LoveGame and has become a Halloween staple for Monsters. With remixes planned for the song, it was intended to be a single but it never materialised as one and was left as an album track instead. The song was initially performed at the Monster Ball and much later brought back for The Chromatica Ball Tour.

I love Monster. Her team are such idiots from not releasing that during Halloween 2010 after Alejandro’s release in the summer. She was still at a colossal high during TFM > BTW. It would’ve smashed everywhere.

This would've been so perfect. It would've been even more of a Halloween staple! :(
