It's Amy Macdonald's week as I finally got to hear the first single from her forthcoming album which had become available for pre-order last week. I also booked to see her in Belfast on her tour at the end of the year and as I hadn't listened to her older stuff for a while I dug out her back catalogue albums. The Dave Lalor album charts by accident in a way. During a discussion about the Irish charts one of his singles was mentioned and I had to hunt it down on Spotify. In the early 90s he released 3 singles in a row which were all medleys and these all appeared on the album at number 8 as well as charting individually. Although the album title suggests his career started in 1990 he was around before that - in fact he entered the Irish Eurovision selection contest back in 1989 when he finished 7th out of 8 entries. This week sees the arrival of a few curent chart hits and a return for a couple of others. Finally this week saw the release of a 25th anniversary remix of Maniac 2000 which I only discovered on Friday.

With a fortnight to go to Bryan Adams' Belfast gig it was time to start listening to his back catalogue along with the new songs from his forthcoming album. I also realised that I hadn't listened to much Shaky recently so put his 19 CD box set on random play. On Sunday (4th) I had gone to see Ralph McTell in concert and a couple of the songs performed that night have also made their debut. And this week I played Maniac 2000 to death and as a result it soars up the chart to take the number 1 spot. Finally there's a return for Boyzlife. During the week I picked up tickets to see them on their Irish tour next April.

Giving Bruce in Belfast a proper listen this week just over a year after the gig took place. The Bill Wyman album popped up on a Facebook post at one point and I decided to give it a play as I was fortunate enough to pick up a signed copy in a record shop in Belfast when it came out. And ahead of his upcoming Belfast show it was time to remind myself of some Bryan Adams classics.

On the singles chart there's a new number one - I love the latest one from Amy Macdonald and the Springsteen inspired intro helps it. Some Days has been around for a good while but has never been able to break into the Top 50 until now. The new ones from Ed Sheeran and Boyzlife have come under the radar since their releases and both make the chart this week.

Bryan Adams week with the Belfast gig on Wednesday being up to his usual high standard. Earlier in the week I had continued to listen to Bruce Springsteen's live shows from 2024 and having finally picked up my Now Yearbook 89 on Monday I finally got to listen to it on Saturday. Also during the week was looking through my favourite albums playlist on Spotify and picked out Lewis Capaldi and OMD.

Also on the singles chart Shake It To The Max makes it's debut, having grown on me over the last couple of weeks. And a couple of Springsteen tracks enter this week after featuring on his new live EP recorded earlier in the month during a show in Manchester.

Friday saw the release of a new 8 CD box set from Hothouse Flowers consisting of their first 4 albums, each accompanied by a bonus disc of b-sides, rarities and live tracks. I played the first 2 albums and have charted them in their own right rather than as part of the complete set. Also during the week I spotted signed copies of the new Sparks album and ordered a CD which also arrived on Friday. On Thursday night the Seven Drunken Nights show returned to the Waterfont Hall in Belfast.

Those albums account for the bulk of the entries to the tracks chart. The Robbie Williams single has been growing on me and I Had Some Help is back in as I keep hearing it on the NI Hit 40 chart show.

Another gig anouncement this week saw me listening to the Bay City Rollers (Woody's version of the band is playing a Belfast show next April). With various posts on Facebook about his recent UK dates I decided to concentrate on The River by Bruce Springsteen, There were a couple of albums that I hadn't played for years which I thought were due a listen - the Moby one as a result of seeing Harry Hill in Belfast as Natural Blues is part of his act. And once again I was listening a lot to Beoga's new album.

Another new Bruce entry with the show that was a freebie on nugs during the week. On Thursday I saw Madness live in Belfast (supported by Ocean Colour Scene) and 2 nights later I was at the same venue to watch Snow Patrol. That show is quite probably going to end up in the chart at some point as Gary Lightbody announced that it was being recorded and will be released as their first live album.
