Another week picking out some albums that I hadn't played much for a while. Dior has been slowly growing on me in recent weeks and during the period covered by this chart I attended 2 concerts - the now annual Stiff Little Fingers "Putting The Fast In Belfast" (Johnny Lydon was supporting them as were Sham 69) and the fantastic Alan Fletcher Band. As mentioned previously Alan is best known for playig Dr Karl Kennedy in Neighbours. A really nice person. On the way in he was standing at the door checking tickets, he was able to see from the list of names who was on his mailing list and they were all told to mention this at the merch stand to get a discount on all purchases plus an exclusive keyring. Alan also took time during the interval and at the end of the show to meet everyone that wanted a photo or autograph.

A week off work started on the Saturday with another concert, this time it was MArti Pellow. Supporting him was local singer brian Kennedy who treated the crowd to a selection of his biggest songs most of which feature on his double CD collection which enters the album charts. After his set Brian made his way to the merch stand where he signed CDs and posed for photos. Friday 29th saw 2 album releases of interest to me. I picked up my copy of the latest Now Yearbook from a local shop that day but had to rely on Spotify to hear Bryan Adams as Amazon didn't send the album out on time. Spotify was aso where I found the new Bon Jovi track and a reworking of Hollow Man with Bruce Springsteen.

Got more of a chance to listen to Roll With The Punches during the week and it started to grow on me. On Saturday night I went to see Hothouse Flowers who were playing as part of the Belfast Maritme Festival and prepared by listening to their debut album. The new entry from Alan Fletcher (a parody of Smokie's Living Next Door To Alice features on the Lighter Side of.. EP which I had picked up at his concert in August but hadn't got round to playing. Also heard the "electric" version of Born In The USA from the upcoming Nebraska reissue.

Monday saw the announcement of some pre-Christmas shows for the Saw Doctors so after geting a ticket for the Belfast show it was time to listen to their Best of album. Friday saw the release of the new Ed Sheeran album and had a few listens to that - much better than Subtract which I thought was average. James Young was a famous comedian in Northern Ireland. To be honest I'm not sure what made me listen to him this week but although this album isn't on Spotify all but one of the tracks on it are on various compilations of his work so I was able to put together a playlist. This particular album was in our household back in the 70s so it brought back a lot of memories.

There were a couple of recent tracks that have entered the singles chart. Olly Murs has taken off after growing slowly on me and on Friday I got to hear the new Gorillaz track featuring the mighty Sparks.

Not much to say about this week's charts. With a full week of playing Ed Sheeran was able to creep up to number 1 ahead of Lewis Capaldi who came back in at 2 following the release of his latest single. As for the mini Springsteen revival that was down to seeing a Bruce tribute act during the week.

With the Falco one I had intended to listen to the deluxe edition of the Emotional album but but found this live recording on Spotify. Albert Lee is a guitar legend and is still touring in his 80s. This week he played the Empire Music Hall in Belfast and I was there. The live At the New Morning album was already in my collection but the other one I picked up at the merch stand after the show where I got to meet the man himself. The week's highest new entry on the tracks chart also has an Albert connection as he played on it and it's parent album Take One. Two of the Demon Hunters singles also made the tracks chart this week along with a random play from Spotify - actor Colin Farrell's cover of I Fought The Law which appeared on the Intermission soundtrack album.

Another busy week for live shows! As well as comedian Chris McCausland at the end of the week I got to see Busted and McFly in a double header on the Wednesday night followed the next evening by Showaddywaddy. The theme for the week seems to have been the early 90s as I finally got my hands on the new Now Yearbook. Just over a month to go before Riverdance returns to Belfast I had a few listens to the most recent release of the soundtrack album.

Yet another Madness hits compilation arrived on Friday and I had a listen on Spotify. Although this seems to be the definitive release with every single on it I already have it all several times over on previous compilations so I decided not to buy it. Again there were some albums which hadn't been played for a while and they were picked at random. This week saw another concert announcement and I'm heading to see the Beach Boys again in June. The Taylor Swift tracks had been growing on me since first hearing them on the NI Hit 40 chart and this week both break into the Top 50.

Two concerts this week which led to re-entries - Bad Manners and Amy MacDonald. Coming into December it was time to listen to Shaky's Christmas album too. Singles wise I heard Kylie's festive offering and loved it. Even better I managed to get a signed copy of the album from Banquet Records minutes before they sold out.

Another Christmas album makes the Top 10 along with a great singles collection from Ash. The highest new entry though is from Kingfishr. Tickets for their 2 shows at the SSE Arena in June went on sale some time back but I hadn't thought about going until a work colleague mentioned it. The tracks chart has been taken over by the Saw Doctors after seeing them on 12th December and Riverdance which I saw on the 20th.

Three Christmas songs in the Top 10 including the Top 2. The Ash song I saw performed live at their Belfast concert before checking it out on Spotify can't quite beat Kylie. I used to love her music back in the 80s and then lost interest but this is the best thing she has done in a long time. The various remixes released during the week as well as the coverage of the race for Christmas number 1 certainly helped too.
