July 16, 20232 yr Author #29 A hundred years of winter (4.00) • Director: ? • Location: ? • Released: 19 November 2021 • YouTube views: 214.000 Kicking of this countdown is A hundred years of winter! There isn’t a lot of information to be found about this video besides the fact that it’s their first video shot in 4K. And it’s one of the few videos without a classic Steps routine. As a forum we are not a fan of the song and also not a fan of the video! It either got a 3 or a 5 rating so it’s total is a measly 4..I can see why though. I really enjoyed the song when the album got released but the video killed it for me. I know they don’t have the same budget as they used to have, but still..it looks really cheap and doesn’t go anywhere for me personally. The only thing I do enjoy about it is the styling of the band. July 16, 20232 yr Author Definitely. Still, they could’ve done something else/not release it. But hé, I’m happy we got a lot of great stuff in general so I’m not going to complain too much
July 16, 20232 yr Author #28 Words are not enough (4.66) • Directors: Aron Baxter and Thrain Shadbolt • Location: Headingham castle (Halstead) • Released: December 2001 • YouTube views: 673.000 Next we have the (mostly) animated Words are not enough. Only the beginning has a brief appearance from the band. Just like A hundred years of winter it doesn’t include a dance routine. It begins with the real Claire being sucked into a magic mirror and the rest of the band following her. As they enter the magical world, they transform into computer animated characters. Though it’s score is a little higher then the previous video, this isn’t a favorite of ours either. It did manage to score one 6 though. I think the concept is cute but overall it comes across (very) dated. The highlight for me? Definitely the mirror scene! Edited July 30, 20231 yr by Lee_his_cheeks
July 16, 20232 yr #29 A hundred years of winter (4.00) It’s not their worst video but it is a pretty forgettable song which doesn’t help! #28 Words are not enough (4.66) Don’t understand why Lee’s animation was shirtless but he wasn’t? Homophobia at play.
July 20, 20231 yr Author #27 Take me for a ride (4.83) • Director: Jordan Rossi • Location: Stratford • Released: 25 august 2021 • YouTube views: 705.000 Moving on to #27 we have Take me for a ride video. It features choreography by Mark Jennings and styling by Frank Strachan. Steps had a lot of fun shooting. "This was one of our all-time favourite video shoots, the day itself was such good fun and we're delighted with the end result. We think the ultra-modern direction might come as a surprise to some people – but much like the song itself, it keeps the essence of Steps but takes what we're best known for in exciting new directions!" We are less impressed looking at it’s final score..it did manage to score a 7 with one of you. Overal I think the video is just a bit of a nonevent. Though I must say Faye looks absolutely stunning  Edited July 30, 20231 yr by Lee_his_cheeks
July 20, 20231 yr Take me for a ride always falls short in all areas. I don't hate but I find it more forgettable.
July 20, 20231 yr Author I must say I do enjoy the song as it was a little different/has a nice 80’s vibe. I think it’s one of their underrated songs imo. More results coming today! Any predictions?
July 21, 20231 yr Author #26 One for sorrow- Tony Moran remix (5.00) • Director: Gustavo Garzon • Location: US • Released: August 1999 • YouTube views: 1.335.000 At #26 we have Steps attempt to crack the States with a remix of One for sorrow. There’s not a lot information about this video either. Let’s just mention the song got to #38 on the Billboard US dance club chart. Their only US charting (besides their debut album). And the video? We are (still) not in the positive numbers as it gets a ‘meh’ 5 score overall. I don’t mind mind this one but I can see why it’s not a favorite of ours. It’s ‘too American’ and they lose their Steps charm for me. Edited August 1, 20231 yr by Lee_his_cheeks
