I am genuinely shocked that Heartbeat is so low!! It's a video with an actual story to it and cheesy as hell but super cute.

Thanks for doing this L-H-C I've enjoyed reading through it. Will comment more now!

I think it's probably a little bit to cheesy which is the problem and it's a bit ironic saying that about steps as the cheese element is usually what makes them great.

I agree about Heartbeat, glad I’m not the only one! Did you give it a 10?

Thanks Spiceboy! I thought it was time to highlight the videos as we haven’t talked about them as much as the songs. Glad you appreciate the effort :)

#18 When I said goodbye (6.44)

• Directors: Simon Brand

• Location: Rome

• Released: July 2000

• YouTube views: 1.012.000

With another small difference (0.04 points) we find the video for When I said goodbye at #18. This is a black-and-white video shot in Rome, Italy. It features shots of the members singing solemnly. A colour version was released in 2022. Some shots of Faye looking ‘pensive’ towards the end led some fans to believe that she was leaving the group. This was another double A for Steps as it got released together with Summer of love. That one will pop up later btw!

We seem to enjoy the video a bit more then the song. I can see why. Though it is a bit boring the band looks gorgeous and we see some beautiful shots of Rome. Also..I’m happy they released the color version last year! That helped me giving this a slightly better score. Getting votes between a 5 and 9 When I said goodbye ends with a respectable 6.44 in this countdown.

#17 Story of a heart (6.71)

• Director: James Dove

• Location: ?

• Released: 23 June 2017

• YouTube views: 3.700.000

Moving on to #17 we find Story of a heart. It was hard to find some good information about this video. The plot is quite simple: The band revisit some old memories, photographs and memorabilia on a sunny summer's day. The YouTube views are quite high for a recent Steps video. Besides that, it was their last official ‘hit’, peaking at #173 in the UK charts (there was a top 200 back then).

I’m surprised Story got to #17. I don’t mind it and the nostalgic part is cute. I think the styling and location is a bit frumpy for me and doesn’t match the song. The video for Story received scores between a five and an eight to finish with a very decent 6.71.

I never really liked WISG both as a single and the video back in the day. However the 4k colour version of the video is utterly stunning I adore it so much and it's made me appreciate the song more from listening to it while watching.

Story of a heart is a lovely nostalgic video, reminds me a bit of the S Club new video.

The biggest ‘meh’ with regards to Story is the styling of the band! At least with the S club video it has more of a ‘clean’ vibe. I do enjoy their new material but the old ones have more nostalgic for me. I made a playlist with all the videos and once in a while I play it.

The next video will be announced soon! Any predictions?

#16 After the love has gone (6.77)

• Directors: Camerson Casey and Simon Brand

• Location: Universal studios

• Released: Oktober 1999

• YouTube views: 5.053.000

Next at #16 we have, with a slight difference, the video for After the love has gone. The music video for the song was shot at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando and has Asian influences. It was directed by Cameron Casey and Simón Brand. The group wear jade-green outfits for the dance sequences, in a setting of Chinese lanterns and a dancing dragon.

One of their videos that I personally really enjoy. It has budget and you can see the time and effort they put into this one. I thought it would end up a little higher actually. After the love scores were devising as it got scores between an one and a nine.

I love their styling in this video, it’s like a modern updated version of back in the day. They look really chic.

#15 Stomp (7.00)

• Director: David Amphlett

• Location: A luxury penthouse (Chiswick)

• Released: Oktober 2000

• YouTube views: 3.951.000

Kicking of the top 15 is the video for Stomp. It was filmed in Chiswick and features group members Lisa and H looking after a penthouse apartment while the owner Bill (Dave Legeno) is away on business. They, and the other group members, then throw a party for all their friends but struggle to tidy up before the owner returns. This was the first single of their third album Buzz and got them their second #1 single.

On one hand I’m not surprised that Stomp got this far. It’s fun and it’s giving you very ‘2000’s party with your friends’ vibe. On the other hand it’s a bit childish and I’m surprised it’s higher then After for example. In the voting it got scores between a six and an eight ending with a respectable 7 as it’s average score.
