October 24, 20231 yr I don't think it's that surprising for NSYNC, it had been over 20 years and they were never huge in the UK. Plus other factors like JT last being hugely successful 8-10 years ago and his name currently being mud, and it's a soundtrack single which has felt low-key. Take That had already laid the groundwork with touring and a hugely successful Greatest Hits compilation before they came back with 'Patience' - which was an undeniable smasher, a reinvention and helped them acquire a legion of new fans.
October 24, 20231 yr Was there bad blood between JT and the rest of the band in the intervening years? Maybe their story didn't include all the drama/heartache/redemption of the whole TT thing. There wasn't bad blood just confusion for the other members. Justin and JC (who is by far the superior talent in my opinion. His vocals are immense) both put out solo records and the rest is history. However, they called it a hiatus because both were going to put out solo albums then come back for an NSYNC record. Like Beyonce did with Destiny's Child in 2004 after her and Kelly Rowland's succsesful solo debuts. However, nothing was communicated leaving a state of confusion for the band members and fans of NSYNC. Justin continued on with his solo career, and wasn't approachable during that time. I think it was 2007 when Lance told the fans that NSYNC was finished. However, that was only a guess on his part and not from any direct conversations. I think he was fed up of being in limbo. They all talk, especially since the 2013 VMA performance and leading up to it, as they have a What's App group. I just don't think any member wanted to directly broach the subject of a reunion until Justin said so. In the behind the scenes making of the song. Justin clearly states that he got in contact with them and that he would be honoured to have them on his track. The boy band premise of the 'Trolls' film would clearly have also led him to thinking along those lines. Mentioning Robbie returning to Take That and fan thoughts. It has been suggested that JT has come back to NSYNC for a load of innocence and goodwill, to be liked like he once was, given the commercial and personal lull he is currently going through. * Note: this theory was suggested prior to Britney's book. October 24, 20231 yr I know this is a Robbie & Take That forum. However, like Robbie and Take That once upon a time. NSYNC have reformed with their superstar solo member, Justin Timberlake. I know 'Better Place' is a one off single, and tied into a huge Dreamworks film. I always thought their reunion would be huge, even for just one single. Justin etc. Yet the song has only charted on Belgium, Canada, and the US national charts so far. Was 21 years simply too long? Should One Direction be taking note? Robbie came back after 15 years, however, as we know Take That had been revived succesfully by the other four prior. Not dormant, like NSYNC. Is Timberlake not the selling star he once was? Thoughts? I like the song, it is catchy, but hasn't stayed with me. I thought they were fantastic in their day. I bought 'Tearin' Up My Heart' and 'Pop' singles and their 'No String's Attached' album. They were never majorly popular in the UK. I only knew one other person in my year group who had one of their cds. Definitely NSYNC over Backstreet Boys, if we are going there (!) I like the song, really works for the film. Maybe the fact that the reunion was just for one song & not a real reunion ( tour etc ) as such people are not interested . When Robbie reunited with TT it followed up with an album & tour which made it more interesting for everyone .
