Now you know the winner, for the first time you are free to prepare your entry in advance of the contest starting. Rollo will be your host and we will be liasing with him to confirm the dates as we're hoping for it not to clash with the next BJSC contest. Please do not reveal your entry here or anywhere else in advance of the contest starting as it is still anonymous as normal. If you do want to start looking, normal veto rules apply:

- Make sure that your entry falls under the Dance genre - essentially something that would be appropriate to post in this area of the forum.

- The aim of this contest is showcasing lesser-known music so keep that in mind, e.g. no big chart hits or cult classics. Lesser known songs by bigger artists may be okay.

- Please avoid anything that has already been sent to previous editions of BJSC, Club Bizarre or Unknown Pleasures.

- If any of these rules aren't adhered to then the Dance forum moderators (awardinary, Dan and lewistgreen) may veto your entry, in which case you will have to submit a new song.

- This is an anonymous contest so please do not reveal what you have sent - the unmasking occurs during the results show.

To confirm, this is a joint theme of both genre types that have been nominated.

Techno -

It’s characterised by its repetitive beats, pulsating basslines, and use of synthesizers and other electronic instruments. The music is often minimalistic, with a focus on building tension and creating a hypnotic atmosphere. The style is futuristic, with a nod to science fiction and technology

Artistic / Experimental Electronica: Using uhsting's definition -

Artistic electronic music so may not necessarily have a big drop or sound 'dated'. It sounds a bit more atmospheric. I envision the electronica side to be more the modern side of electronica with a bit of leeway how it is portrayed. This genre can be quite chill without too much buildup, thus focusing more on portraying the soundscape, as if you are soaking in all the acoustic greatness in the wild. Fikus, an entry I sent in BJSC at the start of last year, is a good example of this (marked as Polish electronica if I'm not mistaken). Another good example would be Eve.

Not bad.

I mean... being in the middle is not bad. My submission was the above 150 BPM hardcore et al.

Now if I have a track I'm happy to submit. Let's see.

Booooo. I did (and Doctor B?). Felt like such a fitting theme

well there’s a more reason for yall to bring your a game to this contest to get your preferred theme up next!

indeed that was the only theme to get as many as three nominations (from you two and Doctor B, yes), well the basic idea for female-rep - dandy* agreed to add nonbinary performers to the theme idea too as per the later suggestions.

it was my personal preference for theme out of the final contenders but I think I’ve got an idea for the winning theme anyhow.

It's actually really bonkers just how male dominated the dance music scene was for a long time. I guess it just seemed kinda normal in the 90s? I can remember Sonique coming along and me thinking OMG they're right when journalists spoke about her being the first really successful female DJ.

(ps not grumbling uhsting, am very much looking forward to seeing what the artistic/experimental electronica genres bring up)

Really loved Dandy*'s theme choice and honestly thought it was an unbeatable one and would've been the victor, so I'm a bit surprised to have a more generic genre theme as the winner!

Confirmations will start on Monday so this thread is now the first Club Bizarre green room (but obviously don't describe your entry as it's anonymous).

I haven't decided on a song to enter myself yet.
