I must say that I am quite excited about the chart rules. I think that is something is selling, then the chart should reflect that.

We have quite a bit of democracy now, although the EP issue confuses me.

The reason that I gave up on the charts in 2000 was that the turnover was too fast! I am so glad that things are slower now!

They should not include album tracks and EPs, the chart looks diabolical, they seem to have thrown everything in, including the kitchen sink

well on the other hand if they are gonna let any track into the singles chart why not everything into the albums. budget albums should not be excluded these days when full price can be bought cheaper in the sales.

but it nothing about democracy its about having a tool that can sell bucketloads of albums, and if one single is only gonna get played on radio and tv, people will download it and so it will continue to stick around maybe killing off anyother interesting singles.

chart may get v boring from now on.

The new rules have also thrown some unusual new entries into the chart. The Kooks’ digital-only Live At The Astoria EP is new at 27, while an act called Gay Gordon & The Mince Pies have a version of Auld Lang Syne in the Top 75.

is Gay Gordon & The Mince Pies the same act that is listed on page 223 of hit singles book who had a number 60 hit on the Lifestyle label called The essential wally party medley in 1986!!!???

be terrible if there was a rival group who was gonna fight them over their name

I guess it depends on what you believe the charts should measure.

Personally, I think they should measure whatever music is selling, period - whether it be new, old, individual album tracks, EP's or whatever.

Not much change from Wednesday, sales are very low for this time of the year, Eric Prydz is only around 400 copies behind TT, Eric should easily be #2 on Sunday

i hope Evanescence and JoJo get at least top 20 next week.

Tragic sales for both charts...Leona will be lucky to sell another 30k in singles while Take That might manage about 25k for the albums which is the lowest I can ever remember :-0

Are sales in both singles and album charts always this low at the beginning of the year?

Yes they are, they usually pick up around March TT will struggle to get 50k this week, xmas is over, people were buying them as xmas presents, now the retail market has dropped like a bombshell, 2 weeks ago the retail market was booming, everybody has spent.
