January 5, 200719 yr Radio 2 & 6 have pathetic playlists. I 100% disagree with you unlike Radio 1; Radio 2 & 6 are rightly playing loads of NEW music for 2007. I firmly believe that Radio 1 has become a waste of tax-payers money and I hope that when Tony Cameron and the Conservative party get elected, that they keep their promise of their election mandate to sell off Radio 1. To quote the lyrics of Stephen Patrick Morrissey "The music that they constantly play, it says nothing to me about my life, hang the blessed DJ, Because the music they constantly play, On the Leeds side-streets that you slip down, On the provincial towns that you jog 'round, Hang the D.J, Hang the D.J, Hang the D.J, Hang the D.J, Hang the D.J, Hang the D.J......" as true in 2007 about Radio 1 as it was in 1986 when the Smiths recorded their anti-Radio 1 single "Panic". IMHO Radio 1 is a total waste of space (with the exception of 19:00 - 04:00 Hrs daily). It is full of ego-centric DJ's who put themselves first and the music a distant second. You should be grateful that you don't listen in the UK. If I wanted to listen to chart music I can switch on Music Video stations or find a track up on YouTube rather than listen to the likes of Chris Moyles taking up 10 minutes talking rubbish before talking over a record he does not like. Thank the Lord I got a Digital Radio for Christmas so I can listen to Radio 6!!!!! It is great to here loads of diverse new & old tracks that are not always chart friendly generic rock/dance/MOR music. While it is great to listen to DJ's who LOVE and care about the music they playing. :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer: :yahoo:
January 5, 200719 yr Chris Moyles is a disgusting arrogant t***. And I agree - I don't bother with radio at all - it's dire. I couldn't care less what they playlist and it seems neither could anyone else - look at Shakira.
January 5, 200719 yr Author new music my arse. its all mor indie stuff which I cant stand. I'd rather listen to R1 for 24hrs, I actually listen online a lot of the time. Definitely not Moyles though, hate him
January 6, 200719 yr I wouldn't say their playlists are 'pathetic'... one would argue radio 1's is to an extent (the amount of bullcrap urban they play). Radio 2 is not my cuppa tea by any means, but for the middle-aged generation - it's a pretty diverse mix. DJ Shadow, Amy Winehouse, Keane, Lilly Allen, Koop... a 50 year old could do a LOT worse! That said, Chris Moyles is a dick - I 100% agree! Edited January 6, 200719 yr by ScottyEm
January 6, 200719 yr my radio in my van is set to r1, but i only listen to it between sites i dont think i could stand it 24/7. i must say... im SICK TO DEATH of bloody jo whiley playing layo and bushwakka 'love song vs finaly'. i used to like it but 5 years on with almost daily playings has lost its appeal. also tomcraft 'lonliness', another 5 year old track that was good then, but very tired now.
January 6, 200719 yr new music my arse. its all mor indie stuff which I cant stand. I'd rather listen to R1 for 24hrs, I actually listen online a lot of the time. Definitely not Moyles though, hate him It's that type of Music because thaty's the type of station it is. I don't see you critisiing 1Xtra for not playing any Rock or Pop... Oh no, that's different... Each of the BBC's stations cater for something different, if they all played the same songs then there would be no point in having more than one station
January 6, 200719 yr Author Well it seems to me that Radio 2 & 6 cater for exactly the same kind of people. And why not have a dance radio since they have 1 for almost every genre!
January 6, 200719 yr Author do u think radio 1 will play total eclipse of the heart? Nope. Dont think they ever playlisted any Westlife song so...
January 6, 200719 yr They played of course. i can say last year's You raise me up and Amazing, also World of our own.
January 6, 200719 yr Author because I happen to post the playlist every week in a lot of forums for over 3 years now
January 6, 200719 yr Radio 1 would sooner go off the air then playing effing Westlife! Even Radio 2 are reluctant, sticking them reluctantly on the C list. Westlife appeal to people who don't like music.
