Fittingly another song that went on to peak higher in a cover version (that being Parra For Cuva's in 2014)! Both versions are great :wub:

Up next with 17/20 correct answers:

Number 21: Yazoo - Only You

17/04/1982 Yazoo Only You 2 72-48-31-14-7-{2}-3-4-8-13-21-37-53-70->14

The biggest hit for the synth pop duo, reaching #2 in 1982 and the Top 40 again via a 1999 remix. A cover by The Flying Pickets was the Christmas #1 in 1983, but it's the original that's one of my all time favourite songs and still gets me every time I listen.

16/20 correct answers:

Number 2: Little Mix - Hair

12/09/2015 Little Mix Hair 35 {35}->1

Released as a promotional single for the "Get Weird" album, this had quite a savage chart run first time round, but a much longer run and a #11 peak the following year via a Sean Paul remix. The clip was specifically the Little Mix only version, but I was generous and didn't penalise anyone who mentioned the Sean Paul feature.

what? which one was that? didn't get that at all but I'm no Little Mix fan :D

One of my favourite Little Mix songs! The absence of Sean Paul was obvious and I first thought maybe you'd picked the 'wrong' version, but later realised... :thinking:

'Only You' is another great one too :heart: Surprised how highly it ranks (in terms of scores)!

Also now waiting for someone to eventually release a cover of 'Hair' that makes the top 10 :D

I actually considered Yazoo as candidate for most recognisable one

But surely the Sean Paul version wouldn't fit the theme :kink:

actually Smooth Criminal was the 7th single off Bad not the 6th :D can I get extra points? ;)

Number 12: The Cranberries - Linger

12/02/1994 The Cranberries Linger {1994} 14 16-{14}-15-14-16-18-19-26-29-36-54->11

This reached a lowly #74 in 1993 but a much healthier #14 when re-released the following year. It spent 6 weeks in the Top 20 which was unusual for a hit of its size in the mid 90s. Despite having several hits that are considered all time greats (including this, "Zombie" which also reached #14 in 1994 and "Dreams" which reached #27), they have never reached the Top 10.

Number 29: The Police - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

24/10/1981 The Police Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic 1 27-6-3-{1}-2-9-17-38-54-71-71-56-60->13

This was the 4th of 5 chart toppers for one of the most successful groups of the early 80s. Apparently it was written in 1977, around the time of Queen Elizabeth II's silver jubilee. For me it's one of their very best though it's probably more forgotten than most of their other #1s.

Yeah it was pretty obvious to me that MJ would be the most guessed one.

Announcing all the ones I'll have likely got correct so far ;) good going!

Number 28: Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride

21/01/1984 Matthew Wilder Break My Stride 4 31-14-5-{4}-5-6-12-18-25-34-58->11

A classic from my birth year that did well in Rollo's Ultimate #4 hit poll. He was a 1 hit wonder here but turned to writing and producing, and today I learnt that he co-wrote the music to the Disney film "Mulan" and sang one of the character's parts!

Now with 11 correct and 3 almost correct:

Number 11: Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell - Beatiful

05/04/2003 Snoop Dogg Featuring Pharrell Beautiful 23 {23}-31-36-39-44-54-63-60-58-62-66-73-70-75-61-67-64-62-71-72->20

This really had an incredible Top 75 run for 2003 - it just wouldn't go away. 20 weeks in the Top 75 is more than most chart toppers managed at the team let alone #23 hits. It's a great, infectious RnB track, and it paved the way for the success of Pharrell first lead artist hit, "Frontin'", later that year. The single also featured Uncle Charlie Wilson but that doesn't seem to appear on the official credit so no points docked for missing that - but I did knock off a point for missing Pharrell, especially as he's clearly integral to the song.

I was surprised 'Beautiful' only made #23! That's a really impressive run though.

Do I get bonus points for including the Uncle Charlie Wilson feature that even the OCC omitted? :kink: (oh I just saw you mentioned him in your edit)
