Nobody could have predicted at the end of 2023 that the three biggest artists of the year, all female, would be Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Charli xcx (with Gracie Abrams seemingly not far behind).

It's fair to say that Perrie & JADE haven't managed any real success since their first single, but I'm sure they will each be back in the Top 40 in the new year with new material, Leigh-Anne also.

Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and a handful of others have had a good 2024, but I'd argue they have all had bigger years before 2024.

Good call on Charli, Wardy! Also interesting to see the predictions for Sam Fender now that he's just bagged another top 5 hit.

It really goes to show we can't predict the following year's major players based on the biggest acts of the past year or two.

We should have a 2025 prediction thread now. :kink:

I feel like we've forgotten collectively how crazy 2024 has been. Like we can talk about how stale the charts have been at times, and it feels like these stars have been here for a long time now just cause we hear them every week. But Sabrina Carpenter went from someone counted out by everyone but her most hardcore fans to the most weeks at #1 in a year in over 70 years, Chappell Roan went from completely unknown to spending half the year in the top 10, and Charli XCX somehow had a cultural event bigger than either of them with Brat summer. Nobody could've seen it coming
