Posted January 4, 200718 yr With the introduction of downloads being taken into account effectively from the 1st January, older singles which were deleted like Maneater and Chasing Cars are going to re-enter the top40. I presume their new sales will be added to the previous totals that were counted up until when the physical CD was deleted and they were excluded from the charts? If so, then these sales figures still give an inaccurate picture because they will not include the downloads sold between the period the single was deleted up until when the chart rules have changed. Its all very confusing and its a pity they werent allowed to include total downloads for all of the older singles that are likely to re-enter the chart such as Crazy.

All of the sales counted after deletion to the YTD chart, they just didn't chart the track, hence Crazy still accumulating singles in the YTD chart after deletion.
January 4, 200718 yr Author Oh right..I didnt realise that. Well I'm glad the sales keep accumulating for these singles.
January 4, 200718 yr Deleted songs still normally appear in midweek updates but the positions are starred out.
January 4, 200718 yr Don't we start from scratch for this year though, it is 2007, sales are just carried over for some existing tracks that are still in the chart.
January 4, 200718 yr Yeh. The top 40 of this week for example will be the top 40 best selling songs of 2007. Sales for songs released in 2006 etc will be counted afresh for this year but will have those figures added onto their totals. ^_^
January 5, 200718 yr Anyone know why the BBC always sticks to a shortened chart and not the full official chart. Top 40 instead of Top 75. Before February 1978 when the chart was a Top 50 they only used the Top 30. Stupid BBC.
