December 4, 20231 yr Movin' it over. 11 Verstappen - has raised the bar of excellence even higher, as close to a perfect season as you could ever see 03 Perez - a bright start which descended into continual embarrassment for the rest of the season, made the most dominant car of all time look ordinary 08 Leclerc - pace is never a concern but the odd mistake keeps cropping up. however has also been very unlucky 07 Sainz - brilliant at times, rather ordinary at others. racecraft is there but lacks a bit of ultimate pace 09 Hamilton - a mere few blotches on an otherwise extremely impressive season, extracting the most out of the w14 06 Russell - a huge disappointment after his heroics last season. qualifying is excellent but racecraft still needs work 06 Ocon - aside from the brilliant podium at monaco it's not been a particularly standout season although hampered by a number of mechanical issues 06 Gasly - a relatively decent first season at a new outfit, probably got the measure of his team mate on balance 08 Norris - an absolute monster once mclaren brought the upgrades. first win surely coming soon 07 Piastri - considering his rookie status he pulled off a very impressive debut season, still a large gap to his team mate in the standings though 05 Bottas - a very meh season although not helped by the mediocre machinery he was driving. has lost the outright quali pace he once possessed 04 Zhou - didn't really kick on at all this season and needs a strong season next year or his time will be up with pourchaire waiting in the wings 09 Alonso - classic alonso squeezing every last drop out of the machinery, made the absolute most of when aston had the second best car 04 Stroll - a fine start and end to the season completely marred by a horrendous run during the middle. aston martin were fighting one handed 03 Magnussen - a very disappointing season considering last season's highs, particularly in quali where he was destroyed by hulk 07 Hulkenberg - firmly outperformed k-mag this season and shows he still deserves a space on the grid 06 Tsunoda - a very up and down season but looked to have the measure of ricciardo by the season's end. still prone to moments of madness 02 De Vries - didn't get a whole lot of time but then when you consider what lawson did it puts his largely meagre performances into perspective 07 Albon - dragged the williams into places it seldom deserved and looks a very well rounded racer now 02 Sargeant - very lucky to be given another season, too many crashes and the pace gap to his team mate was way too much 06 Ricciardo - unfortunate with the injury costing him a number of races but otherwise didn't stack up great against tsunoda, his mexico masterclass aside 07 Lawson - super impressive stand-in considering the circumstances, thrown in at the deep end and looked comfortable right away
December 5, 20231 yr 11 Max Verstappen - As close to a perfect season as I've ever seen. So far above the rest right now that it's ridiculous 05 Sergio Perez - Started the season well but once Max got a handle on the car he was made to look poor. Miami broke his spirit and he failed to recover properly. 09 Charles Leclerc - Reliably fast and often exciting but still overdrives the car too often and as ever, result were hampered by Ferrari 07 Carlos Sainz Jr - Notably the only non Red Bull winner this year and when he's on it he's great, but that isn't often enough. 07 Lewis Hamilton - Finished 3rd in the title more by virtue of the failures of others than anything brilliant from him. The raw speed is gone, the consistency is going and perhaps the motivation too, but there's no denying the innate talent is there when he hooks it all up.. 06 George Russell - Should have done so much better with that car. Often still has pace but lacks situational awareness and has ego issues. 07 Esteban Ocon - An expectedly uneventful season. Still an idiot at times. 07 Pierre Gasly - I'd give Pierre the edge over Esteban since he equalled him without any prevous experince with the team 09 Lando Norris - Still think he's a dick but starting to think he's finally delivering on the hype. If the McLaren had started the year with those upgrades... 08 Oscar Piastri - Brilliant debut season and a thoroughly likeable chap 06 Valtteri Bottas - Most impressive thing he did all year was a calendar. Has good pace in qualifying once in a while but still can't sustain it. 06 Zhou Guayu - The clock is ticking and he MUST have a good year in 2024 or surely he's out 10 Fernando Alonso - Still fast enough that time hasn't yet caught up with him. If the AM upgrades had actually have improved the car it could have been a glorious year. 05 Lance Stroll - Out of 136 races, Stroll has been outqualified 100 times. Not up to the stadard required 04 Kevin Magnussen - A year to forget 06 Nico Hulkenberg - Beating Magnussen across the year is his highlight, but then it is only Magnussen 07 Yuki Tsunoda - Starting to look solid and fast enough, but that may not be enough 04 Nyck de Vries - Never looked comfortable 07 Alexander Albon - Showed what we always knew - he's a very capable driver. If only he could stick to track limits 05 Logan Sargeant - By the end of the year his performances were staring to look respectable. Earned another shot... just. 06 Daniel Ricciardo - Difficult to say. Clearly has still got skill, but didn't ever get much of a clean break to settle in and allow it to show. Make or break next year. He must better Tsunoda 06 Liam Lawson - Hard to say with so little running but looks to have earned a shot in the future. Edited December 5, 20231 yr by Severin

December 11, 20231 yr 11 Max Verstappen - flawless 5.0 Sergio Perez - out of his depth but not the worst 7.5 Charles Leclerc - had flashes of greatness this year 7.5 Carlos Sainz Jr - pretty level overall between teammates 9.0 Lewis Hamilton - grew stronger as the season progressed 7.0 George Russell - not sure how he went from beating Hamilton to always feeling a step behind. Would still class him as consistent though 7.5 Esteban Ocon - solid 7.5 Pierre Gasly - same as Ocon for me 9.5 Lando Norris - the fact he hasn’t won a race is a travesty 7.5 Oscar Piastri - good first season. Can’t rate any higher as he was beaten (somewhat comfortably) over the season by Norris 6.5 Valtteri Bottas - good enough 6.0 Zhou Guayu - becoming more visible 10.0 Fernando Alonso - epic how well he did this year. Always out-performs the car 4.0 Lance Stroll - does not deserve the seat 6.5 Kevin Magnussen - hardest driver to rate for me. If the car wasn’t shocking he could have achieved good things 8.5 Nico Hulkenberg - on pure one lap pace such a standout. Beat K-Mag over the season and deserves a better car 7.5 Yuki Tsunoda - much better this year 4.5 Nyck de Vries - I can’t rate him lower than Stroll/Sargeant. I accept he was poor but not the worst 10.0 Alexander Albon - simply remarkable 4.0 Logan Sargeant - seems like a nice guy. Hopefully will improve, but quite a poor start 7.0 Daniel Ricciardo - surprised me with his pace 7.0 Liam Lawson - would like to see him in a full season
