December 7, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 10. Baby Queen - Want Me BtDb38fG1gM Does it hold up?: Starting off with a track that was originally released in 2020 but made my EOY Top 10 last year after seeing her open up for Olivia Rodrigo. This is still a massive banger but, unfortunately, nothing I've heard from her since has been able to live up to it.
December 8, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 09. Ashe - Another Man's Jeans AQ6urqPSvu4 Does it hold up?: I still love this one. Easily the best song Ashe has released. This might have climbed above a couple of the upcoming songs in my appreciations I was so excited to hear this one live before she had to cancel her tour. Hopefully, one day I might get the chance.
December 8, 20231 yr Oh, am excited for the Year-End lists. Also, I've forgot that "Surround Sound" was 2022! The entire time I thought it was released in 2023.
December 9, 20231 yr Author Oh, am excited for the Year-End lists. Also, I've forgot that "Surround Sound" was 2022! The entire time I thought it was released in 2023. It's certainly taken 'Surround Sound' a while to catch on  I'm excited to see how your EOY chart ends up! Thanks for commenting :D
December 9, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 08. Anitta - Boys Don't Cry PkzJgGZBFDg Does it hold up?: It probably doesn't help that this was from all the way back in January 2022 so is nearly two years old now but I just haven't been going back to this one often recently. I still enjoy it when it comes on but I'm not sure I would still rank it within my top 10 of 2022.
December 11, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 07. Tate McRae - What Would You Do? gXl0zgUhsAU Does it hold up?: Tate has had another solid year but this remains my favourite of hers. It's a really fun song that deserved much better. She kills it in the video too!
December 13, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 06. Kendrick Lamar & Taylour Paige - We Cry Together wUGyZM9rcnY Does it hold up?: This is still me highlight from Kendrick's latest album even if I haven't gone back to it as much as others in this top 10. A 6-minute track of two people arguing is always going to be a bit niche but something about this just works. Very impressive performance from Taylour considering that she's not a professional musician.
December 14, 20231 yr Author "What Would You Do?" and "We Cry Together" are great songs. I'm glad to see you approve of those those picks. I'm sure you'll find plenty you enjoy from my chart this year too! :D
December 14, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 05. Maisie Peters - Not Another Rockstar VjGqTT0drP8 Does it hold up?: This has held up extremely well. Helped in no small part from being able to see Maisie perform it twice as part of her 'Good Witch' tour.
December 16, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 04. Madison Beer - Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You) khCziHJQSwg Does it hold up?: This is the song from 2022 that I've listened to the most this year so I think it's safe to say that 'yeah it has' It was always going to be a near impossible task for Madison 2nd album to live up to how much I love her debut but 'Silence Between Songs' is a very respectable effort and this track is a big part of why.
December 17, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 03. Blackpink - Shut Down POe9SOEKotk Does it hold up?: This is still a huge banger! It's a song made for live performances and absolutely went off at the Hyde Park concert in July.
December 19, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 02. Charli XCX - Lightning RJTv1KZrbuQ Does it hold up?: I'd forgotten just how good this one is. I spammed this so much last year that I haven't gone back to it anywhere near as much as I should have this year. This still sounds brilliant on headphones.
December 20, 20231 yr Author 2022 Re-Cap 01. Blackpink - Pink Venom gQlMMD8auMs Does it hold up?: Yes, this still slaps, especially the now-iconic bridge. Another track from them that goes off live with Jennie being the track's MVP with her great rap verse with the buttery flow.
December 23, 20231 yr Author As far as I can remember, I've listened to 26 new studio albums in 2023. Here's what I'd rank #11-26. 11. Dreamville - Creed III: The Soundtrack 12. Dove Cameron - Alchemical: Volume 1 13. Kim Petras - Feed The Beast 14. Nas - Magic 2 15. Kim Petras - Problématique 16. El Michels Affair & Black Thought - Glorious Game 17. Avelino - GOD SAVE THE STREETS 18. Gretta Ray - Positive Spin 19. Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time 20. J Hus - Beautiful And Brutal Yard 21. Jorja Smith - Falling Or Flying 22. Noname - Sundial 23. Nas - Magic 3 24. Killer Mike - MICHAEL 25. JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES 26. Becky G - ESQUINAS
December 24, 20231 yr Author Album Chart 6. Tate McRae - THINK LATER Highlights - greedy, exes, we're not alike 7. Rebecca Black - Let Her Burn Highlights - Sick To My Stomach, Crumbs, Destroy Me 8. Bas - we only talk about real shit when we're fucked up Highlights - 179 Deli, Passport Bros, Ho Chi Minh 9. Chlöe - In Pieces Highlights - Body Do, How Does It Feel, Told Ya 10. Bebe Rexha - Bebe Highlights - Satellite, I'm Not High, I'm In Love, Heart Wants What He Wants Ecm-ylA29X0 Bebe is another solid effort from Bebe Rexha. It's a little bit Future Nostalgia-lite. It probably deserves to be a couple of places higher. With her pre-album releases suffering from diminishing returns, I was a little worried that In Pieces would disappoint but it ended up being a nice debut from Chlöe. Even if it doesn't get near the heights of her last album with her sister. we only talk about real shit when we're fucked up was only released less than 2 weeks ago and has made a late charge to end in the top 10. 2023 been an awful year for Hip-Hop in my opinion but this has really saved the year for me when it comes to the genre. I never thought I would become such a fan of Rebecca Black, but 'Crumbs' hit me hard last year and I decided to check out Let Her Burn on release day. I even ended up seeing her as part of BLACKPINK's show at Hyde Park. THINK LATER was probably released just a tad too late in the year to make my top 5. On first listen, I thought it hasn't as good as her debut but it's still growing on me and I could see my eventually ranking it much higher.
December 25, 20231 yr Author Album Chart 1. Maisie Peters - The Good Witch :cheer: Highlights - Run, Body Better, Holy Revival 2. Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS Highlights - bad idea right?, vampire, get him back! 3. Madison Beer - Silence Between Songs Highlights - Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You), Home To Another One, Spinnin 4. Leah Kate - Super Over Highlights - Super Over, Lucky, Space 5. Watsky - INTENTION Highlights - AWW SHIT, MILE AWAY, ROLLIN TFHCew8DnC0 INTENTION is the final album from Californian MC George Watsky and was released in two parts to extend the hype. It had been so long since his last release that I was a bit apprehensive going into it but it ended up being one of his strongest bodies of work. Super Over is my 'guilty' pick of the year. Leah Kate might be seen as a bit of a joke (mainly due to the awful 'Twinkle Twinkle' song she released) but she dialled back the cringy TikTok-virality-chasing on this album and I love pretty much every track. I first saw her as an opening act for Madison Beer and now, next year, I will be seeing Leah as a headliner in her own right! Speaking of Madison Beer, Silence Between Songs bags the bronze position. It was always going to be impossible for Madison to live up to 'Life Support' which has become one of the most important albums released for me in my life, and it proved to be the case. I love this album but it cannot live up to her first for me but I do appreciate the progression in her sound and willingness to try different things. GUTS was the highly anticipated sophomore album from the world-dominating Olivia Rodrigo and I was fascinated to hear what direction it went in. Thankfully, the two excellent pre-album releases showed us that it was going to be worth the wait. I think I currently do still slightly prefer 'Sour' but she's 2/2 on great albums. And there was only ever going to be one winner this year and it's The Good Witch. This is probably my most comfortable favourite album of a year since 'My Everything' in 2014. In a top 3 that consists fully of sophomore albums from up-and-coming pop girlies, Maisie Peters is the one that really knocked it out of the park with an album that improves tenfold on her debut. This is already my most scrobbled album ever on last.fm, almost doubling the total scrobbles of the #2. They suggest that I've listened to the album in full at least 100 times and that's only taking in consideration my Spotify plays! 2023 in albums has, for me, been completely dominated by Maisie Peters but will she achieve the same success in my singles countdown?
