Looking forward to listening to the new Green Day album, what’d their last release sell?

23.4k. However, the singles for this album have been significantly better received.

The Reytons vs. James Arthur I’d guess. Could be close, but my money’s on The Reytons.

Would The Smile or Tom Odell not have any chance? The Reytons will prob do it based on fanbase buys but would be nice if Frank Carter could imo. Or even Noah Kahan!

Previous first week sales for the main releases of the week:

3.0k + 11.3k The Smile (#5 in 2022; first week was #19 on digital only, 2nd week total only included ~500 non-physical sales)

13.0k James Arthur (#3 in 2021)

12.3k The Reytons (#1 in 2023)

6.9k Tom Odell (#7 in 2022)

The Smile's release looks like it has its formats coordinated this time around so hoping it'll be possible for them to get #1, just going off those first week tallies though it looks like a pretty unpredictable race (Tom Odell of course having had a fairly big hit single this era which he didn't last time so who knows how much that will shore up his album sales back to past glories). I'm sure The Reytons will be the ones who'll care the most to try and push themselves to #1 if it's close so I'd probably say they're the favourites to join The Lathums on the list of bands who are far too inconsequential to have multiple #1 albums.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes' last 2 albums were 9.1k (#4 in 2019) and 6.5k (#8 in 2021). No idea on if they'll continue to decline or rebound.

Ah, didn’t realise The Smile’s physicals weren’t released in their first week.

Would be great to see them at #1, although I can’t see The Reytons going down without a fight - particularly as they clearly moved their album back a week to avoid Green Day.

In fairness to both The Reytons and The Lathums, they’re both pretty high up the festivals bills I’ve seen for next summer! The Lathums, for example, have an equal billing to IDLES and Arlo Parks at Victorious Fest, and a higher billing than the likes of Louis Tomlinson, Jess Glynne, Soft Play, Holly Humberstone & Yard Act.

Obviously it’s their home audience, but The Reytons being able to sell out Sheffield Arena last year was quite impressive too.

rooting for The Smile, those Radiohead fans do buy their physicals :D

hope Tom Odell is at least top 3 and beats JA

Yeh not sure I would include the Lathums on the same level as The Reytons as they have developed quite well over the past few albums (a shout out from Brandon Flowers will have done no harm)!
I did think Tom Odell would be number one as the album has a hit behind it!

sure but nowadays more than a hit what you need is a crazy fanbase to buy 7 different vinyl versions each

and Tom Odell doesn't have that sadly but The Smile have as it's basically a Radiohead record

I feel like James Arthur vs. The Reytons will be a repeat of James Arthur vs. Foals in 2019, James' fans on Twitter weren't happy at all.

I think I'd expect The Smile to be ahead of James Arthur? Idk though. A shame the first The Smile album didn't sell as well as a typical Radiohead album, not sure they've done the best job making people aware it's effectively the same band
