That Hulkenberg penalty seems a tad harsh. But he was on 0 points to begin with

The Verstappen-Norris-Piastri battle was awesome. More please for tomorrow

Big fine for Yuki. He should know better than to use an insult like that in this day and age.

Well George has got very lucky there, inherited a win from nowhere.

Wonder what impact this will have on the Lando/Max friendship.

Wow. At last George gets his (lucky) second win

And I’m sorry but Perez’s performance is not just Red Bull prioritising Max. He just got beat by a Haas…….

I was absolutely screaming at that collision! Could see it happening sooner or later and Austria for whatever reason tends to throw up these sorts of moments (2016, 2020 etc). Definitely a throwback to 2021 Max with the you shall not pass tactics. Can't wait to see how Lando approaches the next scenario, he knows the game now.

It's completely embarrassing now. Max had a collision, had to run a half a lap on 3 wheels, had to pit for a new tyre, had already had a slow stop beforehand, received a 10 second penalty and still beat Checo by 17 seconds. He's now performing worse than Gasly or Albon ever did as the #2 driver.

Agreed

Will be interesting to see if Max learns from this on track (he's obviously not going to do it with words....)

Max won't change and never will, that's his style. Just like Schumacher, never give an inch and will sometimes it results in avoidable collisions. It's worked his whole career with great effect so from his point of view there's no need to change. It does make the races very exciting when there's other cars quick enough to pose a challenge.
Norris seems a good character I think he will let Max know two can play at that game
Despite the outcome I think it was good for Lando to finally lock horns with Max on track. Previously he gave him a bit too much respect I think. Of course he's only recently had a car quick enough to properly challenge for wins but even so he's never really showed himself as a strong wheel to wheel racer.

Personally, I don't mind the way Max drives. I'll admit he's crossed the line a few times - notably Brazil and Jeddah 2021 - and whilst he was a bit rough around the edges when he began in F1, his hard and aggressive style has been rather lacking in the sport for some time. Certainly Vettel, Button, Raikkonen and to a lesser extent Alonso, Hamilton and Rosberg have all been a bit too 'no please, after you' for my liking.

Verstappen's style is much more in the Senna, Mansell, Piquet, Schumacher, Montoya mold where if you want to pass them you have to earn it. Sometimes there'll be mistakes but that's part of racing.

Sure, he was predominantly to blame on Sunday, I'm not arguing that, but the collision was as much a misjudgement as it was anything else. Onboards show he was correct that he didn't move after braking, but he did adopt his line later than Norris and that it was one that drifted slightly to the outside as the corner arrived. Indeed at the point of contact he's turning right but he hadn't left quite enough room. Norris chose not to back out this time, when he could have and whilst it can be fairly argued he could expect more room, Max could have covered the corner exit as he had the shorter line and hadn't braked as heavily. Max now knows Lando is willing to fight hard for it and he'll respect him for it like in the way he does Leclerc. Charles proved back in karting that he was willing to have a collision if it came to it and you'll notice that the pair now duel very hard but fairly.

Oliver Bearman has officially signed for Haas from the F1 2025 season, the Ferrari junior penning a multi-year contract with the team to join the Formula 1 grid from next year.

Having already made his debut as a last-minute stand-in for Carlos Sainz as a Ferrari driver in Saudi Arabia, Bearman will become a full-time Formula 1 driver from next year with Haas as he makes his way up the motorsport ladder.

great race last Sunday. and that was 100% what Lando needed. He had been way toooo nice to Max in the past, about time something happened and he got a reality check. Hope he's more aggressive and respectull but without too much respect for Max.
Watching the Austira highlights a few days after the race, got to say I was expecting this incident to have been far worse than it was considering all the talk about it. oh... was that it?!" was my main thought.
Well we've been starved of anything like this for 2 and a half years now so I'm not surprised at the relative overreaction myself!
