Posted January 7, 20241 yr This teaser dropped a couple of days ago.... FFJeM60ZXMc WHAT A TEASER! We don't officially know what the movie is yet (many speculate it's for 'Longlegs' (which stars Nicolas Cage). But until we find out the title... I'll be revelling in the teasers! This is exactly the kind of thing that gets me hooked and wanting to see a horror! I always avoid trailers and teasers for horror movies usually as they give way too much away. The promo campaign for this (with the secret revealing of the title) is giving me 'Cloverfield' promotion vibes and I love it!
January 25, 20241 yr Author More teasers have come out now and it has since been confirmed to be 'Longlegs'! The three teasers we have in one video below: bdr8iCtyi6Y Looks right up my street! Getting 'Prisoners' meets 'Zodiac' vibes... I'm sold!
January 25, 20241 yr This goes right up into my top 3 most anticipated movies of the year, just behind MaXXXine and A Quiet Place 3 *.*
July 6, 20241 yr This is finally out next week! Been a couple of trailers since and this is the final one OG7wOTE8NhE The marketing of this has been genius and reviews from early screening seem positive, I really hope it delivers. Feel like there hasn't been this much hype built up for a horror film in a long time!
July 6, 20241 yr After the massive disappointment that was MaXXXine, I'm really hoping this delivers! My most hyped film of the year.
July 8, 20241 yr @1810343085697593599 Give the marketing team a massive bonus. Good lord. :cheeseblock: Got my ticket booked for Friday.
July 12, 20241 yr Author Got 'Se7en', 'Prisoners', 'Zodiac' vibes from this. I was deep in my bag with it! It's definitely more "psychological thriller" than it is a "horror", but it's deeply unnerving, unsettling and there is an incredible sense of dread all throughout! Maika Monroe is as reliable and fantastic as ever and Nicholas Cage puts in one of the most unhinged and creepiest performances in a while.
July 15, 20241 yr Very promising box office result for this, it had a budget of less than 10 million and has made that back and then some so far, just shows the powers of an intriguing marketing campaign! Incredibly well made film with the cinematography, shot composition and sound design really standing out, I kept focusing on the shots as they revealed so much space and had you on your toes wondering what was coming, yet never ruining it with a cheap jump scare. I agree that I'd call it eerie and creepy rather than really scary, but it was still effective. Monroe and Cage worked really well off each other as polar opposites, similar to Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter which I'm guessing was intentional. The final reveal and expository last act didn't quite land fully for me, but I would still definitely recommend this as a brilliant exercise in atmosphere, Think the most fitting description is The Omen meets Silence of the Lambs if both were produced by A24.
