August 6, 2024Aug 6 Cost of living / inflation etc etc etc it's always going to be inevitable and it's the consumer who pays the price as a result
August 6, 2024Aug 6 Even if something was done about the cost of living and inflation, I don’t think they’ll reduce their prices back to normal again
August 6, 2024Aug 6 Author I suspect they thought that their recent vinyl pushes would help to raise some licensing capital but I doubt that has worked as it's just a rinse and repeat of 80s classics every time. The end is nigh for this British institution. 40+ years is a good innings though to bow out.
August 6, 2024Aug 6 From post from now that’s music Collector on Instagram copy he says now us Update about the US NOW Situation Hey everyone, I kinda got an update on the ongoing situation regarding the NOW Series in the US. Today I've received information from a source that has be in contact with Jeff Moskow who has said that he knows nothing about NOW 91 and also he wasn't told to compile a tracklist for NOW 91. This pretty much confirms that NOW 91 is probably not happening and it's best to say that the series is in the process of being discontinued. This is such devastating news to the NOW community as the series was extremely popular and loved by people for the last 25 years. I'm saddened to see the series go as it was huge part of my life and I grew up with this series! I was going to wait to see if something was going to happen but as of right now it's not looking great. Another thing that I spotted out is that even some songs on some NOW albums on streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music & YouTube Music are being removed and unavailable to listen to. I find this to be very suspicious especially now when there are talks/rumors of the series ending. I'm considering of going forward with the rebrand maybe even sooner as I planned. I'll probably start the process in the coming weeks with a new name and profile picture. This marks the end of an era to one of the most popular music series in the country. The series has been around since 1998 and released a total of 90 main albums plus over 100+ spinoff albums featuring some of the biggest artists such as Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Backstreet Boys, Coldplay and others. It also introduced some upcoming artists who went and made it big with the NOW What's Next series which featured acts such as Tate McRae, Shawn Mendes, Billie Eilish and others. The series sold millions of copies and some have even reached number one of the Billboard 200. NOW 5 marks the most successful album being certified 4x platinum by RIAA in 2000. The series has achieved so much over the years and it's something we should celebrate and look back on. These albums will always be in my heart and it's always great to look back on these albums. I want to thank the NOW series for being a part of my life and it will continue to live on.
August 6, 2024Aug 6 I'll have to think twice about buying the hardback versions of future Yearbooks at those prices. I don't find the info and casing worth £8 more particularly, £4 or £5 maybe at a push.
August 7, 2024Aug 7 Regular yearbooks are now £12 with the hardbacks being £18. I just hope they don’t end up bumping up the price for the numbered series
August 7, 2024Aug 7 That’s why you shouldn’t increase prices. Decreasing prices will help sales increase and increasing prices will cause sales to decrease. Now Yearbook Extra 1993 has gone up to £10 now. I remember when the hardbacks were £16 and now they’re £18. And I blame streaming platforms for the decline in sales of compilations I got it for £9 in Asda this morning, they already had it stocked up so I got lucky.
August 7, 2024Aug 7 I got it for £9 in Asda this morning, they already had it stocked up so I got lucky. My local Asda don’t stock the extra editions so might wait until Friday or look in Asda tomorrow but they’ll probably stock up on the budget compilation hits album early 80s

My local Asda is crap for it and only seems to stock every other Extra but I found a bigger one with a much longer chart and selection.

ASDA do tend to stock things before their actual release date i was watching someone do a blu ray/dvd hunt video where they went to ASDA and found a blu ray release not scheduled until next week.

I don't find the info and casing worth £8 more particularly, £4 or £5 maybe at a push. I've already ordered NOW 1987 yearbook but yes it's not good the price increase but i prefer the hardbacks because i like the booklet so will still get it. I used to buy the vinyls but stopped after 1986, although i did recently purchase the 1988 vinyl.

I'm surprised the film industry haven't cracked down on it! I doubt Now care that much as they've always had leakage with their releases, so many Now albums climbed from the depths to No.1 due to selling a few copies early. I remember picking up Now 42 at a Little Chef the day before release in 1999.

I remember picking up Now 42 at a Little Chef the day before release in 1999. I also remember picking up Now 87 in 2014 at my local service station 3 days before it was released. If I weren’t away that weekend, I’d have happily waited until Monday 7th to buy it
August 8, 2024Aug 8 I suspect they thought that their recent vinyl pushes would help to raise some licensing capital but I doubt that has worked as it's just a rinse and repeat of 80s classics every time. The end is nigh for this British institution. 40+ years is a good innings though to bow out. I suppose they only need to plug five other gaps after 1987 and they could say the Yearbook series was always intended to be 73-93 and bow out. I really hope not as I want the late 90s ones more than any of the others! Been listening to 93 Extra today and it really is a slog. So many MOR misses and 80s acts with low top 40/75 hits on here. Little Bird, Nightswimming and Don't Walk Away were definitely strong enough for the main album. The Cher track is a live version but apparently that was the hit version and also appears on her own hits album. Edited August 8, 2024Aug 8 by gooddelta
August 8, 2024Aug 8 I just hope that the next 90s yearbook isn’t 1994. They should stop coming up with random spin-offs. Just focus on the yearbooks, vaults, millennium, 12" 80s and of course, the numbered series. For the numbered series, switch to the American format and charge £9 for them with 4 a year and NO r2 artists but if they stick to their 3 numbered series a year, then they should have set release dates of every first Friday of March, July and November Edited August 8, 2024Aug 8 by Hadji

August 8, 2024Aug 8 I agree, and i think we're due a 70s one after 1987 which should be 1975, then hopefully 1991 then 1989. If the next 70s yearbook is gonna arrive in November, then it might be 1976 and then release 1975 next year for the 50th anniversary or do a 90s yearbook next to level out the total amount of 70s yearbooks and 90s yearbooks or they could release 1989 next to get the 80s over and done with then go back and forth with the 70s and 90s and I reckon the next 90s yearbook will be 1995 for the 30th anniversary but I’d rather it was 1991 Edited August 8, 2024Aug 8 by Hadji
August 11, 2024Aug 11 2 weeks at #1 for Now 118, not to be sniffed at (though I'm sure someone will find fault with it)
