Some from 2009:

2 Taylor Swift - Love Story 33,261

3 Lady GaGa - Poker Face 32,338

Taylor nearly landed at #3 with Love Story. Thankfully it managed to hold on.

10 Beyonce - Halo 21,269

11 Miley Cyrus - The Climb 21,208

Miley was 61 copies away from scoring her first top 10 hit with 'The Climb'.

4 Eminem - We Made You 37,120

5 Daniel Merriweather - Red 37,097

Red was 23 copies away from reaching #4.

8 Veronicas - Untouched 21,557

9 Lily Allen - Not Fair 21,497

10 Eminem - We Made You 21,264

Veronicas 60 copies ahead of #9 and less than 300 copies ahead of #10 the week they peaked at #8.

3 Black Eyed Peas 36,669

4 Lady GaGa 36,634

Paparazzi was 35 copies away from #3!

10 Mann/50 Cent 28,080

11 Beyonce 27,919

This is another one that shocks me! Beyonce was about 160 copies short of getting a top 10 hit with 'Run the World (Girls)'. Though, a few months later she managed #3 with BTYNH despite it selling the same amount of copies as #4.

4 Calvin Harris/Kelis 51,365

That's unusual with Beyoncé, Calvin and Kelis that week!

I was looking at the sales thread from the time and no one seemed to pick up on the tied sales - not even the chart commentator.

LFN nearly being a #10 smash :o Glad Amy’s BtB managed a top 10 peak in the end.

It had two other weeks at #9, although I'll need to check the sales of these.

One from 2016

2. Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign - Work From Home 63,257

3. Lukas Graham - 7 Years 63,229

Only 28 sales ahead for Fifth Harmony grabbing their highest peaking single!

So what separated them in the end?

Was it just alphabetically?

Not entirely sure. Maybe it was decided on who had the biggest week-on-week increase? (just a guess)

@Roba good one with the 5H stat. :o Never knew the sales were so close there.

Ah good thought, thanks. That’s better and more fair than what I was thinking.
