I think Hozier still isn’t close to his streaming peak, whilst people continue to discover the song. Reckon he’ll be doing 1M a day when Taylor releases, so do think she will debut at #2. Can’t see her managing 1M daily, she will likely be ahead day 1 and day 2, and then drop below for the remaining 5 days.

#1 #2 #3 is out of question for sure now, either #2, #3, #4 (most likely) or #1, #3 #4 I reckon

Didn't Anti-hero do on average >700K on week 1?

From memory I think it opened with 1.2 Million, then dropped to 700K and stayed around the for the whole week?

As much as I like him and the song, it’s gonna be unfortunate that a song that doing 1M first day won’t be number 1 on the chart. It’s the rarest thing in the world, super bad timing for her.

Are we even sure Taylor's album will have a song that does 1m on Day 1?

Her rerecords never do a million and only 2 songs off Midnights did 1m. Could see hear doing under 900k quite realistically. Especially with no lead single.

Tbh I think she could have multiple do 1mill+ but you can’t sustain that for 7 days

No one knows, but Anti-Hero and LH also just came out as the same day as the album, so it's the same situation.

I think Taylor is much popular than she was 2 years ago

The Eras tour + Midnights + Cruel Summer has put her in a much better and higher place

the anticipation for this new album is huge

I'm sure the focus track will do more than 1 million, far far more i'd say, it's a sorta Adele-esque comeback

(when Adele was huge, not now obv), so 1.5 /2 million wouldn't surprise me

but will see soon I guess :)

Reminder that Easy On Me is the only non-Christmas track to do over 2m on Spotify - and that was a single release not an album one - so I think we can pretty confidently say there's no way Taylor is doing 2m from a non-Christmas song - I wouldn't be surprised if it's whatever the focus track is it's under a million tbh. I can still see her getting a #1 with it.

I will be gobsmacked if there are no tracks of Taylors over 1m+ on release day - as others have mentioned she's even more famous now than she was when Midnights was released. The ticket buying fiasco for the Eras tour was genuinely like nothing I have ever experienced and even though I knew she had grown in popularity over the previous year, that really highlighted to me how unstoppable she is now. I think this album is going to have an even bigger first week than Midnights did tbh.

Also if the leaked clip of Fortnight ft Post Malone is real and thats what they push as the "lead", it sounds STRONG

I’m sure it ain’t real…

Under a million? But actually releasing the lead single+the album on same day actually means more streams not less

Beautiful Things seems to have had a harsher-than-expected drop globally so I wonder if it's had an autoplay boost recently? Annoying timing because it's cost it the chance of #1 in the US! :drama:

Id say some of his fans are maybe tired of the song and migrated more to some of the others

This isn't really how things work in the streaming era though, we know people don't get bored of stuff very easily...! It's not a big problem, it'll stabilise again, but the decline has been quite steep quite fast and there's no sign of his other songs benefiting.

Well logically it makes sense if you got 10+ more songs to choose from and some are pretty good you’d have less time to listen to others. I liked beautiful things but I’d say it’s run its course just about now whereas cry and the other one are pretty good and fresh. Some songs have more longevity than others too I got bored of that djo song pretty quick but stick season took forever. Beautiful things is probably in between them. Slow it down seems to be up today from what I can see in US global and UK

I feel like she may have reached or be nearing saturation point by now though, if the backlash to the Grammys is anything to go by. Obviously she’ll still have huge numbers but it wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t quite reach Midnights levels.

If Taylor doesn’t perform better than Midnights, the decline narrative will begin. She’s bound to decline at some point as is the case with every big artist in history and it will seemingly come out of nowhere.
