Yes Mothertopia is off to the club this month with a certified banger! I first heard this in July 2020 mid lockdown and it’s stayed its in my bops playlist ever since! I was unaware people tried to send this four (4!) times when it first came out but hopefully it’s still such a tune everyone still loves it x

Mothertopia sending a MAN?! This is truly groundbreaking territory for us as a nation.

After discovering Tom Aspaul through gay twitter, Ive really enjoyed his two albums. He makes really fun, campy music and he reminds me of a more bubblegum pop version of George Michael… and Listen 2 Nicole is a definitely a fun camp time.

Oh, and listen out for a bunch of fun Sherzy references in the chorus!

Leah Kate might be known for that bratty 10 things I hate about you song but I think this offering is actually a massive banger!

Had this one in my list of potential sends for a while now after seeing her when she supported Maisie Peters on tour. It’s VERY poppy so I’m hoping it can survive the rock corner of buzzjack haha.

I decided to choose it this month as Gretta Ray is Australian and I’m currently having a little Australian (brat) summer holiday so it seemed fitting!

After NQing last month I decided to go back to the previous month’s entry and pick another bop from SASAMI… let’s see how it does in comparison to I’ll Be Gone

I think the chorus is such an ear worm… I find myself singing the “like Dolly in 9 to 5” line all the time!

I first found SAMIA when she supported Maggie Rogers back in 2022 and I went and listened to a bunch of her stuff and really enjoyed it.

This is (I think) the first single she’s released since I saw her live and thought it was great for BJSC… I love her “doooooooooon’t do it!”

Fun fact - SAMIA is Kathy Najimy’s (of Hocus Pocus & Sister Act fame) daughter. But sometimes a nepo baby can slay x

BJSC 178 - Audrey Hobert - Thirst Trap

Was a bit hesitant to send Audrey after Sue Me didn’t do too well in the spin off competition, but since I’ve started listening to her I really love her stuff.

She has that (Dis-)Gracie Abrams sound but her lyrics are always so fun and playful and she seems really quirky and self aware… I’m here for her!

And I just loooove that saxophone solo in the last chorus! Wow!

I wanted to send this because the first time I heard about Lexie Liu was through BJSC, and since then I’ve went away and listened to more of her music!

In my opinion, this is probably her best song and such a massive banger! But I would not describe it as MUNA-esque so I don’t know how well it will do :p
