I really like this song , Molly was shaky/nervous vocally for the first few seconds of the performance but she really got going as she headed to the first chorus, she did well for a 16 year old, at th

I really like this from Bonnie, its a very underrated entry but i still enjoy it alot.

I wonder how well Lena would do in the modern contest.

Probably fairly well. It’s not as if she would turn up with that version of Satellites 14 years later. Loyal To Myself is her most recent single and would still turn a decent result at ESC. Maybe not win but I’d say solid top 10

Yeah, she's a great performer. She has a way of selling quirky pop songs that other artists wouldn't do so convincingly. I'm glad she built such a lengthy career post-Eurovision.

It was great that Taken By A Stranger made the top ten too, defending a win the year after was a very brave thing to do and could have gone a lot worse for her. Although with the Satellite rockabilly version that she was part of too, 2011 was a bit like the Lena show

Clearly Satellite sounds pretty dated these days, so wouldn't even be a viable entry in 2024, but I still think a brilliant performer armed only with a great song and few other bells and whistles could do well in the contest today. If only because they would stand out by not trying to stand out.

Yes, for all my charts.

In male category # 1s are :

2000s : LT United - We Are The Winners

2010s : Engelbert Humperdinck - Love Will Set You Free

Based on this, I'm glad that there aren't any male-only acts appearing in the countdown :kink:

"Satellite" remains my favourite winner since I started following the contest  I'd say that "This Is My Life" remains my favourite Anna Bergendahl entry from Eurovision/Melfest as well, now that's an unpopular opinion but I really love it. I'm glad she was able to return to Melodifestivalen and get a redemption arc.

With "This Time" making the top 15, I'm curious as to what you think of "Stay" by Monika Linkytė?

Also I liked all those Irish male slow songs from 2000-2006, which mostly disliked by fans of contest.

In 2010 year Lena was my # 1 favourite, but I didn't watch a semifinals, so wasn't familiar with Swedish entry until 2012 year. Maybe I will do the similar ranking for Melfest with top 50 songs from last 25 years (even if there is no intrigue about # 1, I already named my all-time favourite and only one MF song with 10/10 rate).

If don't count both Eurovision entries and a first album I only heard and like her cover version of "Shake It Off" in a duet with Helene Fisher.

I meant exactly that. Oops

9. Sandra Oxenryd - Through My Window (Estonia - 2006)

Is it anybody else here, who heard her song "Superhero" from Polish 2008 pre-selection ?

8. Valentina Monetta - The Social Network Song (San Marino - 2012)

Valentina was the second two times (2012, 2014). It's very sad thing, when you couldn't win with 9/10 song.

Best 2nd places from my yearly rankings :

1. Kathy Kirby - I Belong (United Kingdom - 1965)

2. Mary Hopkin - Knock, Knock Who's There? (United Kingdom - 1970)

3. Birgit Oigemeel - Et Uus Saaks Alguse (Estonia - 2013)

4. Cindy & Bert - Die Sommermelodie (Germany - 1974)

5. Hanne Krogh - Lykken Er (Norway - 1971)

6. Maria Christian - Wait Until The Weekend Comes (Ireland - 1985)

7. Nicole - Ein Bisschen Frieden (Germany - 1982) *

8. Maggie MacNeal - Amsterdam (Netherlands - 1980)

9. Sheeba - Horoscopes (Ireland - 1985)

10. Brotherhood Of Man - Save Your Kisses For Me (United Kingdom - 1976) *

11. Gry Johansen - Kloden Drejer (Denmark - 1983)

12. Valentina Monetta - The Social Network Song (San Marino - 2012)

* - Surprisingly Austria was my # 1 in 1982 and Norway won in 1976.

7. Susanne Georgi - La Teva Decisio (Get A Life) (Andorra - 2009)

Only four countries had two consecutive wins in my rankings - Germany (1962-1963), Ireland (1972-1973), United Kingdom (1977-1978, 1980-1981) and ... Andorra (2008-2009).

Everyone knows which song is my all-time # 1 favourite. There are two things, which almost impossible to avoid on any forum, where I posted - Lithuanian girl group YVA and "Beautiful Song".

1. Anmary - Beautiful Song (Latvia - 2012)

Everything is perfect : singer, lyrics, vocals, staging. My favourite is her performance in Latvian NF final , but Eurovision version is good too. Possibly if you didn’t know it before, but both her NF performances were different. Iconic book "History of Eurovision" (from the semifinal) was really missed in the main contest. (

)

It's the best song, which was ever recorded.

For me "Beautiful Song" is a something special, I gave 10/10 rate, but honestly her masterpiece is in a league of its own. This song separated a history of pop music on two parts : before and after. Even the title of my retrospective chart "Gražios Dainos" ("Beautiful songs" on Lithuanian) is a reference to my all-time # 1 favourite song.

Bonus : Anmary - Laidies Ar Mani

Her comeback single from 2022 year.

The booing on that Silvia Night performance is Eden Golan level. I wouldn't have booed her as it was pretty obvious she was an actress playing a character. I can't deny the song is catchy.

Marry Me and Undo are brilliant tracks of course.

I did chart Beautiful Song at the time. There's something quite charming about it, especially the chorus melody. But it never sounded like a qualifier sadly.

In 2012 year I was sure in her top 5 result (even after the performance in a semifinal) :( and in DNQ for Sweden. :)

My top 4 was Latvia, San Marino, Belgium, Finland. Just imagine my emotions after declaring results in semifinal 1.
