August 5, 2024Aug 5 Never really a fan of the Carpenters either but Karen’s voice is gorgeous and her whole story is heartbreaking. :(
August 5, 2024Aug 5 a-ha went off the boil in the very late 80s and 90s but before and after then they have been pretty consistently good. Scoundrel Days is my favourite album of theirs, but their debut is obviously also good too. Minor Earth, Major Sky is where they came back strong and the following Lifelines, Analogue and Foot of the Mountain albums were all lovely too.
August 5, 2024Aug 5 Touchy was a step too far for me and I didn't listen to anything by them for years after that, until a friend told me Summer Moved On was pretty decent. I will always adore I've Been losing You though. That's a high quality Pop song.

August 5, 2024Aug 5 Human League moving up! :o I do love Don’t You Want Me, can’t say I’ve heard much else from them. Garbage is another I need to listen to more of. Duran Duran have some good tunes (Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf) maybe I should delve more into them as well.
August 5, 2024Aug 5 3 good ones there. Had the pleasure of seeing Garbage live a couple of weeks ago. They've lost none of their fire and Shirley is still a absolute force of nature. Duran Duran I like up to a point. After Notorious they go downhill pretty quick but the Wedding Album in the early 90s was a brief return to glory. Human League are another that had some interesting early albums before going very Pop with Dare (which is a classic of its time) but then got steadily less interesting as the years went on. They too had a brief rennaisance in the mid 90s.
August 5, 2024Aug 5 Duran Duran and the Human League are two of the best bands of the 80s for me (although both continued to release good music well into the 90s and beyond). Both their greatest hits are an enjoyable listen and I still play them fairly often. Garbage were great too, particularly their first two albums, although they did lose me a bit after that - a few singles aside. Really like their Bond theme too!

August 6, 2024Aug 6 Nice climbs for both those bands! The Clash are pretty iconic, think my fave from them is 'Rock The Casbah'. TOP are OK, the singles from Blurryface were great but I'm getting less and less invested in them with each album.

Together in electric dreams which is a Phil Oakley single (the male singer) is really good too. Human League just missed out for me
