Posted May 21, 20241 yr As suggested, I have recreated a thread about managerial changes that take place in between the football season. I have created this thread to note any changes during this period. Pochettino has left Chelsea: https://www.theguardian.com/football/articl...fter-one-season
May 21, 20241 yr Maybe he's off to Bayern then. Will be intrigued to see who Chelsea appoint next and if United will speed up their search of ETH's replacement.
May 22, 20241 yr as are the very vast majority of Chelsea fans, I’m gutted to see Poch go - and despite it being portrayed as a mutual agreement, it’s quite evident that Boehly and co have wanted him out for months. the lack of patience from the new ownership is getting exhausting - towards the end of this season it genuinely felt as though we were getting somewhere as a side, in no small part down to Poch and the strong relationships he’d built with our younger players. have seen multiple of our squad voice their disapproval at his departure on social media. cue the inevitable hiring of a manager with zero Premier League experience + influx of more young players to replace the first team players considered ‘not good enough’ by the ownership. May 23, 20241 yr That fact that Kompany is being looked at by Bayern despite relegating Burnley just shows how much your status as a player influences clubs' impressions of you as a manager. Why aren't they looking at Rob Edwards I wonder who did a much better job than Kompany.
May 23, 20241 yr I can see their logic. He dominated the championship and they probably see his style as one that works well when you have much better players then the opposition which Bayern do. If he scrapped out 0-0’s and stayed up probably would appeal to them less in a way. Kompany had potential to be great or a flop so given everyone else has turned them down then he's worth the risk
May 23, 20241 yr It is a strange decision for a super club like Bayern to take that risk he didn’t do that well with Anderlect either!
May 23, 20241 yr Steve Coppell also dominated the championship (and indeed managed a top half PL finish) but didn't see any European giants come in for him...
May 23, 20241 yr Bayern deserve what they get with Kompany, they’ve knee jerked so much and been turned down by so many people, they’re now taking a complete punt. I think Kompany is a good coach and Burnley have been slightly unlucky this season from their stats, but there’s a complete lack of pragmatism from Kompany. Just seems we are in a real void at the moment of the next generation of managers. Chelsea and Man Utd potentially fighting it out over McKenna shows where we are. Clubs are having to take complete punts and hoping for instant success.
May 23, 20241 yr Yeh if I was McKenna I would surely want to see where I could go with Ipswich and would be quite excited about the prospect!
June 3, 20241 yr Imagine thinking 2 years ago that the next 2 winning managers of the championship would go on to manage Bayern Munich and Chelsea in their very next roles...
