January 8, 200718 yr See now that's how a frickin chart should be done WOOLWORTHS. I take it they stock all the new releases separately as normal and will add them in next week?
January 8, 200718 yr See now that's how a frickin chart should be done WOOLWORTHS. I take it they stock all the new releases separately as normal and will add them in next week? Yeah, the "new releases" stand will remain with pretty much every release on it, not just "selected" songs like Woolies...
January 10, 200718 yr MMMM. They tend to discount indie and therefore they will have a better showing in this chart and skew it somewhat. Take That almost out the Top 20 highlights how skewed it is. Acts like McFly will barely dent this chart (whereas will do better in a chart like Woolies) and therefore not being available in the higher numbers, they won't get the space and therefore won't have the opportunity to sell as well. I think that CD shops should display the official chart. It's not that I like McFly per se (I don't) but I just think fairs fair. HMV position themselves as a "real" music store with that, comes the inevitable music snobbery - in my opinion at least. In my local HMV, the albeit new singles chart, is so hidden at the back of the store in corner next to the posters!!! (Reading The Oracle) they'll be lucky to sell any. Just the ones they decide to put by the cash registers.

Just the ones they decide to put by the cash registers. I think it's the same for all of them now. At least all the stores i've been in have the singles at the back. I think if the singles were brought back over to the front of the shop, they would get recognised, and people might decide to buy one or two.

Liverpool HMV has a whole side wall for singles and an isle in the middle with back catalogue!
