Listen to the lyrics. A fitting single for an unsigned band to chart with!

Is this really Punk? They kinda sound like busted.

Exactly what I said in the chart forum  They sound like McFly -_- They turned down record companies because they wanted to turn them into McFly (which they already ARE) and because they turned them down they think they're 'punk'

Just like a certain someone who went to public school and is from an upper class background who thinks they're 'punk' <_<

Totally agree.

They definitley have that Busted/McFly thing about them.

They sound like a bad Feeder covers band...and what are they doing in my beloved indie / alternative section when they're neither?!? ;)

I really like this single by the way. A little dull at the beginning, then it really comes alive. Thumbs up from me.

Oh no, we'd only get it back :D

I heard this was going to go top 40 according to BBC News Entertainment... does anyone else think otherwise??

Yes. On Early midweeks they where Top20, the latest info which I think is from Thursday put them at Number 33. It seems then that it's possible they could slip out of the Top40 by Sunday. Will have to listen to the chart on Sunday to find out. Personally I hope they just make it into Top40.

Koopa on verge of unsigned chart success

Bandmembers father dies as band hit Top 40

NME News

The father of two members from Koopa - the unsigned band set to enter the single chart this weekend (January 14) - died just ahead of the band's unlikely success.

Ollie and Stuart Cooper's father Martin died of a suspected heart attack on January 7, just as the band sort to use the new chart rules on downloads to get in the Top 40.

As previously reported, Koopa are the unsigned Essex trio who are set to become the first ever unsigned band to reach the top 40 with a download-only single 'Blag, Steal and Borrow' this Sunday (January 14) following the changes in the singles chart.

Their manager Gary Raymond explained: "It's the greatest week of our lives and the worst week of our lives. The boy's dad was one of the driving forces of the band."

Martin Cooper had invested £20,000 of his earnings from the printing industry into the band.

Singer and bassist Joe Murphy told The Independent: "If we can get into the Top 40 now, we've got a decent career happening for us. We just want to get as many sales on the board to honour his (Martin) memory so in future we'll be celebrating this week."

Well I hope they just make the Top40, so what if the song sounds like Busted/McFly at least it is better than any of the awful fake middle-class university graduated US College Rock EMO bands who pretend to be white trash (coughs) MCR, PATD, FOB, etc.

I hope they make the top 40, they were really good when i saw them live in 2006.

I like them :D

Then again I did have a soft spot for Busted and I find McFly awful :P

I think they're more in Good Charlotte territory tbh - this sound is horrible in plcaes - I really don't like the singer's voice at all but I have heard other songs from them and they're quite good.

Will be interesting to see what happens to them now.

The first time I heard them I thought they were McFly... they're not a terrible band but I don't understand the fuss. "What real music sounds like" (their MySpace tagline) is a bit cheeky.
