July 22, 2024Jul 22 I think if older songs increase in sales considerably during a week, they should be reset to SCR for that chart, rather than being reset once it has charted… if that makes sense. Some boosts only last a week so it’s a bit unfair.

I think that is what happens now? There was a change sometime fairly recently.
July 22, 2024Jul 22 Get rid of ACR. Especially since so many songs get reset over & over again (*cough Cruel Summer cough*).
July 22, 2024Jul 22 yes that has been the case for a while now / you see it happen all the time now like with the old songs getting reset just recently from the football
July 22, 2024Jul 22 I think it needs simplifying. I know why they brought in ACR as otherwise we may see little movement in the chart week by week, but I think it overcomplicated it.
July 22, 2024Jul 22 Especially since so many songs get reset over & over again (*cough Cruel Summer cough*). And we had that situation last year where As It Was was constantly charting higher because of the existence of ACR. With no ACR it wouldn't have had such an unnecessary long run in the top 10. It's not fit for purpose.
July 22, 2024Jul 22 Remove the streaming from chart. I think you probably know by now why that isn't viable option. Sales chart does exist if you want it btw: https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-sales-chart/
July 22, 2024Jul 22 We've had countless discussions about whether ACR should be in the chart and I'll always defend that it really *needs* to be there. It's not perfect but it serves such a vital purpose in keeping the chart moving, it'd be even staler without it. The spurious resets are irritating at times, but if it's genuinely earned I don't mind - As It Was earned its resets by increasing in streams, it was Green Green Grass that irritated me more as that had a manual reset for the most tenuous reason. There's room for fine-tuning the rules of it though - measuring the decreases against the market when increases are just increases, against the market or otherwise, is confusing and I think it's little things like this that allow for stuff to avoid ACR for so long when it's obviously on the way down. Hopefully the OCC can make tweaks to the process because I think it's absolutely vital as a compromise between chart purists who want everything represented (so no recurrent rule to boot stuff out, the popular songs are still charting but a bit lower) and those who listen to the chart on the radio and don't want to hear the same songs every week (we still get this sometimes of course but that's not the fault of the chart if nothing new's breaking through on a given week)
July 22, 2024Jul 22 ACR is good, does its job but they need to fix the reset, do it like it was before. Now it's too easy to get a reset. lol at someone suggesting to get rid of streams? then positions 81 to 100 all would be tied with 1 sale from itunes lol
July 22, 2024Jul 22 I think only tracks that someone has actively searched for should be included as a chart sale. Tracks on pre-organised playlists shouldn't be included. These are just being listened to as background - and people just let the playlists play out. They aren't actually choosing these tracks it basically spotify favouring some tracks over others
July 22, 2024Jul 22 If a song reaches No.1, and its still No.1 by its 10th week of charting it must not be put on ACR until it leaves the No.1 spot sales wise even if it means we'll maybe see a comeback in 13-14 week number ones. For e.g. Sprinter would have been number 1 for 13 weeks and then the week after it left No.1 sales wise, then it gets put on ACR. This also stops us from having number ones that are only there just because the *ACTUAL* number 1 song in country got put on time out, the No.1 spot is sacred.
July 22, 2024Jul 22 Also bring back the 100: 1 chart ratio, it makes the sales look much better. ACR can be 200:1
July 22, 2024Jul 22 A 10-12 week limit on how long songs can stay in the chart. No way. That would make the charts even more of a farce. Some songs take that time or even longer to gain momentum. @Dobbo okay I’m not well versed in the streaming rules.
July 22, 2024Jul 22 They can add BCR for British chart rules. British acts sales and streams count 15% more than non British acts.
