January 11, 200718 yr I've been reading the thread related to it on the 606 pages (Well not all of it, I can't be arsed with 700 odd replies!) but this post is the one I agree with most: And whoever it was that said he didn't have the balls to try something new - how many European players have gone to the MLS at his age to try and influence the direction and future of a whole football league? Good luck to him Full thread: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/F6335621?thread=3798596 Edited January 11, 200718 yr by RabbitFurCoat
January 12, 200718 yr Breakdown of the earnings: An annual salary of $10m His existing sponsorship contracts with his four sponsors - Motorola, Pepsi, Gillette and Volkswagen - are estimated to be worth $25m His merchandising shirt sales will bring in $10m His share of the club profits: $10m So really apart from a share in the club that's probably not any more than he would've been earning at Madrid. The majority of it is going to be coming from his sponsorship deals which he ALREADY HAS.
January 12, 200718 yr It does seem a lot of money £25m a year almost but Tiger Woods, Michael Schumacher etc earn 3 times that (Schumacher earned £79m last year)
January 13, 200718 yr I would rather see doctors and nurses and so on get good money than someone get these obscene amounts kicking a ball about Do you have a poster of your doctor on your wall? Do you go to see to see their operations live? No, that's why people like footballers get this amount of money because they make that kind of money for their club, they do their bit and they get paid for it! Well maybe not £500,000 a week but if someone offers that and you will definitely play football like you're passionate about then how can you refuse? how can anyone blame him? They OFFERED him it so they can hardly call HIM greedy for it
January 13, 200718 yr Fair play to him. He realises that he is not going to get his place back in the England squad & get to 100 caps so why come back to England and play for Bolton, Spurs or West Ham.
January 13, 200718 yr Who cares about David Beckhams salary. He is a brainless twit. He can't really do anything else. I hope he gets tax loads when he lives in the US.
January 13, 200718 yr Last Updated: Saturday, 13 January 2007, 13:47 GMT Real coach calls time on Beckham BBC Sports News Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has revealed that David Beckham will not play for the club again after agreeing to sign for Los Angeles Galaxy. Capello said: "Beckham will train with the team but he won't play." He added: "He has always been a great professional, but a player who has such an important contract with another club, we cannot count on him." The 31-year-old former England captain has agreed a five-year contract with the Galaxy worth around £128m. Capello added: "The fact he wanted to go was down to him, not to me." Galaxy may now even look to take him to California in time for the start of the MLS season in April. Asked whether Beckham might leave the Bernabeu before the end of his contract, Capello said: "You will have to ask Beckham that question." Beckham has found his first-team opportunities in Spain limited following the arrival of former AC Milan, Roma and Juventus coach Capello last summer. Capello only gave Beckham a starting role for Real in five league games this season and the club are currently third in the Spanish Primera Liga, five points behind leaders Sevilla.

February 20, 200718 yr David Beckham is playing brilliantly tonight v Bayern Munich (on SkySports Xtra). Two assists in the first 30 minutes - Real Madrid 2-1 up. On this form only an idiot would say Aaron Lennon or Shaun Wright Phillips deserve to play for England ahead of "Golden Balls".

On this form only an idiot would say Aaron Lennon or Shaun Wright Phillips deserve to play for England ahead of "Golden Balls". Make that 3 assists in 35 minutes. :yahoo: - Real 3-1 up Raul, Helguera & Van Nisterooy the goal scorers. He has to play for England vs Israel - end of discussion. EDIT: OK I got excited It was two assists, but he did set up the opening goal by doing a precision 30+ yard pass to Van Nisterooy who then put Raul through one on one with Klose (Bayern's goalkeeper).
February 20, 200718 yr Thisispop - what exactly are his stats since he returned? This season, before tonight's match - David Beckham has scored 4 goals & 11 assists in 877 minutes played on the pitch. He has also picked up 1 Red Card & 8 yellow cards.
